- 1. The word ли is actually an interrogative particle, but in folk songs it can also serve as a "filler" with no particular meaning. As the song is folk-ish, I interpret it as such.
- 2. Сон не до покой - I interpret it as сон-недопокой, which comprises сон 'sleep', недо- 'a prefix of incompleteness', and покой 'peace'.
- 3. В губы крича - literally, "crying in [his (or someone's)] lips" which makes no sense, but it also resembles the phrase кричать в голос "to cry at the top of one's voice".
