Santiano - Saint-Malo (English translation)

English translation

Saint-Malo

Saint-Malo
Hoist the sails (1)
(X8)

At the end of our journey
Lies the city of privateers
Let's go to Saint-Malo !
My longing draws me to you
Only you I have on my mind
And my heart gladdens

Hoist the sails (x3)
Saint-Malo
Saint-Malo
We set course for Saint-Malo
Hoist the sails
Hoist the sails
The wind carries us to Saint-Malo

The wild waves are breaking
But her bulwark is made of stone
Saint-Malo, withstand !
My girl is waiting there
So long I've been away
Soon I will go ashore

Hoist the sails (x3)
Saint-Malo
Saint-Malo
We set course for Saint-Malo
Hoist the sails
Hoist the sails
The wind carries us to Saint-Malo

The roofs are lighting up
And we greet the sun
Saint-Malo is near
The floodwaters lead me to you
Soon I'll have you with me
I'll be there tomorrow

Hoist the sails (x3)
Saint-Malo
Saint-Malo
We set course for Saint-Malo
Hoist the sails
Hoist the sails
The wind carries us to Saint-Malo

Saint-Malo
Hoist the sails
(X16)

Saint-Malo
Saint-Malo
We set course for Saint-Malo
Hoist the sails
Hoist the sails
The wind carries us to Saint-Malo
(X2)

If you have corrections. i will consider them if they are made in a courteous way, including stanza and line, and what it is that needs to be replaced. If you only type one or two words into the comment box, without giving the location, I will simply ignore it.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Another option is you correct the entire song and paste it so I can in turn copypaste it, which is less work for me. You can also take my translation and make your own translation using mine as a basis.
------------------------------------------------------------
If you start a fight over commas, apostrophes, grammar, syntax, lower and upper case, english dialects that you don't understand cause your english is just too poor, as it has now happened for the last couple weeks constantly. I promise you soon as you start monkeying around and bossing me around with your comments that I can't delete. I will delete the translation instead. and Keep it on my computer where it belongs.

(1) or, more literal: "hoist 'em high !"
this word is similar in french and german. "Die Segel hissen" meaning to hoist the sails, draw them up so they can catch the wind.
(2) Sonnengruss, "salute of the sun", actually a vedic ritual, but not shure if this is meant here.
