Marifé de Triana - Sangre de mis venas (English translation)

Spanish

Sangre de mis venas

Vuelve a tu tallo jazmín oloroso,
y a tu orilla espuma del río;
nadie me quiere sacar de este pozo
en donde se ahogan mis cinco sentíos.

Yo que soñaba con el jardinero
del verde, verde limón,
al tronco vivo de aquel limonero
lo tengo en prisión.
Una fuente suspira a mis pies
y no pueo inclíname a beber.

Sangre de mis venas
tengo que llorar,
porque, en vez de quitarte la penas,
te las voy a dar.
Mi gloria se vuelve en llanto
y no, y no me pueo valer
aquél que yo quise tanto
me tie, me tiene que aborrecer.
¡Clemencia por Dios
que no pueo más!
¡Cautiva de esta caena,
sangre de mis venas
tengo que llorar!

English translation

Blood of my veins

Return to your stalk, smelly jazmin,
and to your shore, river foam;
nobody wants to take me out of this well
where my five senses drown.

I who dreamed with the gardener
of the green, green lemon,
the living trunk of that lemon tree
I have it in prision.
A fountain sighs at my feet
and I can't bend to drink.

Blood of my veins
I must cry,
because, instead of taking your sorrows,
I'll give em to you.
My glory becomes crying
and I can't be good at it
that one who I loved so much
must destest me.
Clemency for God sake
I can't take it any more!
Captive of this chain,
blood of my veins
I must cry!
