Mark Forster - Stadtflug (English translation)

English translation

City Flight

And I run on and on
Man I glide, I float there
And I just want to be there today,
Where the crowd is dancing and singing
I am not visible
Man I go astray, there's no one who digs that
People drink and party
The city is my perfect hideout

I am on a city flight,
On my expedition
I still have a place free
I take you for a ride
I am on a city flight,
Come have a seat
The city is ours
And we fly back until tomorrow
Yeah...

I was blinded by the light
We're drinking beer and stomping our feet
A foreign face kisses me,
I think she's beautiful, but I don't engage into action
No I am not in the mood to talk,
Want to move, want everything to stand outside
I rush through the clubs,
I'm en route in my own film

I am on a city flight,
On my expedition
I still have a place free
I take you for a ride
I am on a city flight,
Come have a seat
The city is ours
And we fly back until tomorrow

The guy stands like Wonderwall in the train,
He has my last shirt,
But doesn't look at me
A few tourists are very enthusiastic,
It smells after cigarettes and Mate Jägermeisters¹
On the bridge, I throw my glass into the water
With chicka blazing with her ass on the pavement
And I am nearly there, almost
The city makes me untouchable

I am on a city flight,
On my expedition
I still have a place free
I take you for a ride
I am on a city flight,
Come have a seat
The city is ours

I am on a city flight,
On my expedition
I still have a place free
I take you for a ride
I am on a city flight,
Come have a seat
The city is ours
And we first fly back tomorrow
And we first fly back tomorrow
Ey...

¹A type of alcoholic drink; a mix between Jägermeister and "mate" (a tea drink).

>"Man ich streune, es gibt keinen der es checkt" = I go astray, there's no one who digs that (as a suggestion)
>"die Meute" -> meant is: the crowd
>"Ich nehme dich ein Stück mit" = I take you for a ride (or: I give you a ride)
>"Komm setz dich dazu" = Come on, join us, have a seat
>"Die Stadt gehört uns" = The city is ours
>"Und die Beine stampfen zum Bier" = We're drinking beer and our feet are stomping
>"Ich find sie schön, doch mach einfach nicht mit" = I think she's pretty, but I don't engange into action
>"Ich hetz durch die Läden," = meant: I rush through the clubs/bars/dicothecs
>"I'm en route to my own film" = I'm en route in my own film

Thanks so much for your help :)!

I put "die Beine stampfen..." as "We're drinking beer and /stomping our feet/" because "our feet are stomping" sounds very weird in English.

And thanks especially for "die Meute", had so much trouble trying to figure out the meaning of that.
