It's such a shame if songs are translated literally, especially if it means that the intentions of the artist (i.e deeper/underlying meaning of certain lines) is lost in the process. The beauty of music lies (for the most part) in the emotion it evokes in the listener. One should, therefor, strive to translate without adding meaning, yet staying true to the emotions that are being expressed...even if it means not using the exact same word or expression!!
