One of my interests is
that if I ever happen to translate something for You,
please, be so kind,
and wait at least 30 minutes before you read it. Well, you can read whenever you want, of course, but I have a habit of "correcting" my translations, especially in these 30 or more minutes, maybe even in the following weeks or after a month. But you won´t be the only person who ever reads it because of some "internetial laws", so you don´t have to care. How is that even possible?
☥ I translate because it helps me think the meaning through more deeply which I happen to like. It can make me picky about what to translate, true, but eventually final feelings come from the inside, not from the artist although performance can help. I tend to translate only what I feel strong about.
† But on this site we also help others and those others often/usually need meanings to songs that aren’t pure gold in my opinion. However, I hope that you won’t *notice* quality shifts then. If you are the same kind of golddigger as I am, this might help you. (I once mentioned that I had this ambiton to only deal with pure gold but I failed quite soon.)
× Overall, I promote – as much promotion is possible here – artists who
a) make great music (very unexpected) although there might be hardly anything translatable or even to translate;
b) have lyrics that want me to tackle headfirst their meaning or sounds or homonymy, paronymy and synonymy, polysemy because I can only trust myself;
c) are deep enough (singing well is a bonus but I can try to load technicians with meaning too) and you might become a victim of over-explanations.
+ I believe that it is a lot better if those to-Eng-translations are done by native speakers (not English native meant, unless bilingual) although the quality of English suffers. Because of knowledge and access to words that haven’t been used etc. On the other hand, it might be good that this site is for fun. The fun should be golden.
