* the word "peine" can also mean upsets or troubles but i picked sorrows because it seems to fit the song a bit better :)
** also the different clothing being mentioned is meant to be taken literally since the character singing this in the movie is wearing all the clothing meantioned

As much as I like it better as: je suis apparemment, à part, rue à Paris vers minuit. I think it's actually je suis apparemment apparu à Paris vers minuit. Which is I apparently appeared in Paris around midnight. But to be fair I don't speak French.
