Una Pastora
Una pastora yo ami
una ija ermoza
de mi chikes yo l'adori
mas ke eya no ami.
Un diya que 'stavamos
en la huerta asentados
le dishe yo: por ti mi flor
me muero de amor
En los sus brasos m'apreto
kon amor me bezo
me respondio kon dulsor:
sos chiko para amor
M'engrandesi y la bushki
otro tomo i la pedri
eya si olvido de mi
ma siempre yo la ami

Translation
A Shepherdess
I loved a shepherdess,
a beautiful girl,
I loved her since childhood
I loved no other.
One day while we were
sitting in the garden,
I told her: "For you my flower,
I die of love".
She held me tightly in her arms,
with love she kissed me,
sweetly, she replied:
"you're too young to love"1.
When I grew older and searched for her,
she had already wed another and I had lost her,
she had forgotten me,
but I always loved her.
- 1. This has always held two meanings for me: 1. You're too young to love (you're still a boy) / 2. You don't know what (true) love is.
