Cro - Whatever (English translation)

Whatever

Intro:
This was by far the worst week,
I’ve ever had in my life.
I don’t know if I should get up
And I have no idea what I’m doing
Because somehow everything’s fucked up
I’ve never been so low
Since I know all my money is gone
And my wife cheated on me!
Ahhhh, whatever!

Hook:
Bye (bye), I feel so free (free)
I don’t want to go home anymore
And I don’t give a shit what happens tomorrow
I raise my glass and shout:
Bye (bye), I feel so free (free)
I don’t want to go home anymore
And I don’t give a shit what happens tomorrow
I raise my glass and shout...

In the mirror, man,
I don’t need anything but you,
We grab each other, I got you, you got me
And if either of us ever fucks off
It was surely over money or some chick
Now I’m free
And get up again
I’m alone, and shout,
I’m going out again,
Jump into my Nikes, stay
And go like a boss
In slow-motion in the club, it took forever
But it’s Saturday night
I’m slowly perking up
And pay for the first round with a handshake, all right,
What’s up?
Cro, look, this is my world
My hobbies are, uh, shoving or tripping people
Or occasionally being a bit lazy on the couch
Sometimes alone and sometimes with women
But today I’m in the club, no, I’m not stumbling home
Because we’re partying through the night until the sun appears
Yeah!

Hook:
Bye (bye), I feel so free (free)
I don’t want to go home anymore
And I don’t give a shit what happens tomorrow
I raise my glass and shout:
Bye (bye), I feel so free (free)
I don’t want to go home anymore
And I don’t give a shit what happens tomorrow
I raise my glass and shout...

I wake up
Look out, no idea where I am
The whole house full of women, hey, completely asleep
My pants are torn and the car is gone
Go to the kitchen, make some coffee first with Jim
Sit down,
What’s up, how’s it going, I’m here
And living, going, soon, to you
Okay, and if anyone already knows
What’s going on tonight, then please, please give me the details
Because I’m kind of moody, so I don’t want to go home
I solve my problems easily with cheap wine
Give me another sip, another sip, another sip,
Another sip, another sip,
Yeah, I’m yabadaba there
So give, give, give, give, give me a Becks!
And I’ll down, down, down, down, down it in one go!
Your gang has kids with Clique on their caps
Grabbed the whiskey and now fuck off!
Hey!

Hook:
Bye (bye), I feel so free (free)
I don’t want to go home anymore
And I don’t give a shit what happens tomorrow
I raise my glass and shout:
Bye (bye), I feel so free (free)
I don’t want to go home anymore
And I don’t give a shit what happens tomorrow
I raise my glass and shout...

Author's comments:

Please correct whatever sounds weird... German isn't my first language so some of the slang/idioms were confusing.

You did a pretty good job! A thing I would change is the line (in German): "Meine Hobbies sind, öh, schubsen oder Beine stellen," I would translate this as "My hobbies are, oh, shove people or tripping them." It's kind of schoolyard/playground talk; what kids do to each other when they roughhouse.

Hey! Pretty good job for German not being your primary language, but since this is getting more or less popular, I'd like to help as best as I can.
Firstly, in line 5 a literal translation of "shit" does not fit perfectly, "everything's fucked up" is more close to what an English speaking native would say in a sitatuon of "...ist alles scheiße".

And in the fourth line of the hook; I've never experienced "I lift my glass", but always "I raise my glass", as raising a glass is much more common than "lifting" it.

After the hook the fourth line the meaning of the translation is quite different than the original, "to get pissed off" is not the same as "sich verpissen". "Und hat irgendjemand von uns beiden sich mal verpisst" rather suits "And if any(one) of us ever fucks off" in my opinion. "To piss off" would be optional, but not "to get pissed off".

And the line "And I'll drink to my ex" isn't really what he meant with "auf ex", as "auf ex" is a teenage way of saying "to down something" (in one go). He's not raising a toast on his ex, but downing his beer.

Hope I could help!

Hi, sorry, I only just saw your comment on this - thank you so much for your advice! I've made some edits based on your suggestions.

Thanks especially for your clarification on the line "Und hat irgendjemand von uns beiden sich mal verpisst" - very confusing to try and make sense of that as a non-German!
