Как мальчик кудрявый резва,
Нарядна, как бабочка летом;
Значенья пустого слова
В устах её полны приветом.
Ей нравиться долго нельзя:
Как цепь ей несносна привычка,
Она ускользнёт, как змея,
Порхнёт и умчится, как птичка.
Таит молодое чело
По воле - и радость и горе.
В глазах - как на небе светло,
В душе ее тёмно, как в море!
То истиной дышит в ней всё,
То всё в ней притворно и ложно!
Понять невозможно её,
Зато не любить невозможно.

She is frolic like a curly boy,
She is dressy, like a summer butterfly;
The words of empty meaning
Are full of amiability by her lips.
You cannot be liked by her for long,
She hates any habit, as if it's a chain,
She will elude, as if she's a snake,
As if she's a birdie she will rush away,
The young brow of hers
A joy with a sadness hides.
And the heavenly lights in her eyes,
And the darkness of deeps in her soul!
Sometimes everything breathes with the truth in her,
But sometimes everything's hypocritically and falsely!
Though it is impossible to understand her,
