Sattar - Ajab Sabri Khoda Darad (عجب صبري خدا دارد) (traducción al Inglés)

What patience God has!

What patience God has (From Moini Kermanshahi)

What patience god has,
If I were God,
At the first sight that I was seeing cruelty from a miscreant creature
Would destroy the world with all its beauty and inelegance
What patience God has!

If I were God, and was seeing that in front of hundreds of hungry neighbors, there was a banquet mirth and wassail,
I would silence the first drunken shout immediately at the tip of wine cup!
What patience God has!

If I were God and was seeing that one, is nude and shaking
and the other has worn hundreds of colored cloths,
I would conversed earth and sky
What patience God has!

If I were God, I wouldn't accept praying nor would hear to retraction of these tyrants and I would tear hundreds of letters from pious-like persons
What patience God has!

If I were God, I would make thousands beautiful Leilis' homeless and crazy just for desert nomad Majnun
What patience God has!

عجب صبری خدا دارد !

اگر من جای او بودم .

بگرد شمع سوزان ِ دل عشاق سرگردان ،

سراپای وجود بی وفا معشوق را ،

پروانه می کردم

What patience God has!
If I were God, I would turn the whole body of unfaithful beloved to a butterfly which swirl around the burning candle and wanderer lovers' heart!

If I were God, with all these patience and heavens that I had,
at the moment that I was seeing a dear person is selling ignominy, unduly
I would converse the earth's cycling impatiently
What patience God has!

If I were God, and was seeing that scientists and people are disturbed from this fatal, earth destroying science ,
I would destroy any intentions except love and troth in this legendary world!
What patience God has!

Why I should be in his place?!
That's better that he sits on his place because he can bear the ugly works of these creatures
Otherwise, If I was him, when I could make compromises with wise and unwise men at the same time?!

What patience God has!

Sorry, I couldn't translate this part properly : If I was God, with all these patience and heavens that I had,
at the moment that I was seeing a dear person is selling ignominy, unduly

It needs a native in both english and persian!

You mean the original lyrics, or the translated ones?

camellia    Sáb, 22/09/2012 - 13:45

The translate that I made right now, based on what it has been posted, is complete. But the original lyrics as far as I remember has some missed parts, I have to search and I will add the missed parts in the original then I translate them...

It'd be great if you could do that. It's very important that the original lyrics are wholesome.

Is this a new moderator requirement that lyrics be "wholesome"?

well, well, this part is missing:

عجب صبری خدا دارد !

اگر من جای او بودم .

بگرد شمع سوزان ِ دل عشاق سرگردان ،

سراپای وجود بی وفا معشوق را ،

پروانه می کردم

camellia    Dom, 23/09/2012 - 09:48

it must be placed between part 5 and 6:

What a patience God has!
If I was God, I would turn the whole body of unfaithful beloved to a butterfly which swirl around the burning candle and wanderer lovers' heart!

There are two major errors in the translation:
1. In the title, the indefinite article, "a", should be removed to read: "What Patience God Has"
2. "If I was God" is grammatically incorrect. It should be "If I were God" (also: "if I was him" should be "if I were him"). This is a subjunctive phrase expressing an untrue condition - I am not God - so "were" must be used instead of "was."
