Dreamscapes~for my dear~

The joy from the bottom of my heart at our sudden encounter says,
“Maybe it will end before I know it…” Those feelings scare me*
And then I gazed into your eyes
Without understanding anything

They’re not changing for good, so how many illusions,
Like memories and dreams, could you lock up
Even then I gazed at your eyes**
Without changing anything

If I hold out my hand, that distant smile is fleeting
If I close my eyes, I want to hold
The vanishing you within my arms once more
Because I can’t forget that time and that place we met…

Dancing in the breeze,
I saw your figure enveloped by the light

I was watching only you
I was gazing into your eyes***
Even now, I am only watching you
Without anything changing

If I hold out my hand, that distant smile is fleeting
If I close my eyes, I want to hold
The vanishing you in my dreams once more
Because I can’t forget that time and that place we met…

Because I can’t forget…

The word emu isn't an actual standard Japanese word. It's made up of the characters 絵 (e, "painting" or "drawing") and 夢 (yume, "dream," "illusion," etc). When put together, these characters are read as emu, which ends up becoming "dreamscapes," "daydreams," "illusions," "fantasies," or anything along those lines. But don't expect to see this word a lot in standard Japanese.

* The written lyrics say kankaku, "sense" or "feeling," But Gackt sings kyofu, "fear" or "terror."

** The written lyrics say genzai, "present, current time," but Gackt sings ima mo, "now."

*** Instead of the written itsumademo, "forever," Gackt sings hitomi, "eyes."
