El autor de este huapango es uno de los grandes compositores mexicanos del pasado siglo, Tomás Méndez Sosa, y también uno de los más prolíficos en canciones que hablan de toros.
“Matacuervos” es un toro indultado, por bravo, que se recupera de sus heridas en el campo, en su ganadería.
