Sexy Loverboy

Sexy Loverboy

So show me where it’s written that, if you should “make a catch,”
every other feeling disappears “right down the hatch.”
Show me where it is!
Mmm . . . show me where it is.

. . . that if, when seized by Spring Fever, you overact a bit –
for the other person, there is nothing but to quit.
Where does it say that!?
Mmm . . . where does it say that?

Please “chill out,” my love, because I’m here once more.
Between us, everything is as it was before.

Don’t fret at all, sexy Loverboy –
There is new love ev’ry day, in many ways.
Don’t make that face, sexy Loverboy –
In my own way, I’m true to you.
In my own way, I’m true to you.

. . . that if, on the city streets, you’re of your heart bereft –
Automatically, it means that you have nothing left.
Where does it say that!?
Mmm . . . where does it say that?

. . . that love is a “prime number” and completely “linear,”
which you can’t “divide” or “parcel out” both here and there.
Where does it say that!?
Mmm . . . where does it say that?

It’s time that finally you and he try to be friends,
If we can, maybe, work this out ‘tween 9 and 10.

Don’t fret at all, sexy Loverboy –
There is new love ev’ry day, in many ways.
Don’t make that face, sexy Loverboy –
In my own way, I’m true to you.
In my own way, I’m true to you.

I have tried again to make a translation that meets the rhyme scheme and meter of the original song while -- at the same time -- remains mostly accurate. The author's method of placing the subordinate clause FIRST ( daß . . . ) made the translation more of a challenge. Comments are most welcome!
