اگر من جاي او بودم
همان يك لحظة اول .. كه اول ظلم را ميديدم از مخلوق بيوجدان ،
جهان را با همه زيبايي و زشتي، به روي يكدگر ، ويرانه ميكردم
عجب صبري خدا دارد !
اگر من جاي او بودم ، كه در همسايه صدها گرسنه ،
چند بزمي گرم عيش و نوش ميديدم ،
نخستين نعرة مستانه را خاموش آن دم بر لب پيمانه ميكردم
عجب صبري خدا دارد !
اگر من جاي او بودم ، كه ميديدم يكي عريان و لرزان
ديگري پوشيده از صد جامة رنگين، زمين و آسمان را
واژگون مستانه ميكردم.
عجب صبري خدا دارد !
اگر من جاي او بودم ، نه طاعت ميپذيرفتم
نه گوش از بهر استغفار اين بيدادگرها تيز كرده
پاره پاره در كف زاهد نمايان سجدة صد نامه ميكردم.

اگر من جاي او بودم، براي خاطر تنها يكي
مجنون صحراگرد بيسامان هزاران ليلي نازآفرين را كو به كو
آواره و ديوانه ميكردم.

اگر من جاي او بودم، به عرش كبريايي با همه صبر خدايي
تا كه ميديدم عزيز نابجايي ناز بر يك ناروا گرديده ، خواري ميفروشد
گردش اين چرخ را وارونه بيصبرانه ميكردم.

اگر من جاي او بودم ، كه ميديدم مشوش عارف و عامي
ز برق فتنة اين علم عالمسوز مردمكش ، به جز انديشة عشق و وفا ،
معدوم هر فكري در اين دنياي پرافسانه ميكردم.

چرا من جاي او باشم ؟!
همين بهتر كه او خود جاي خود بنشسته و تاب تماشاي زشتكاريهاي اين مخلوق را دارد
وگرنه من به جاي او چو بودم ، يك نفس كي عادلانه سازشي با جاهل و فرزانه ميكردم

اگر من جای او بودم .
بگرد شمع سوزان ِ دل عشاق سرگردان ،

Is this a new moderator requirement that lyrics be "wholesome"?
There are two major errors in the translation:
1. In the title, the indefinite article, "a", should be removed to read: "What Patience God Has"
2. "If I was God" is grammatically incorrect. It should be "If I were God" (also: "if I was him" should be "if I were him"). This is a subjunctive phrase expressing an untrue condition - I am not God - so "were" must be used instead of "was."
