why are you lost? what happened to you ?
why are you lost? what happened to you ?

my heart is worried about you.
why are you lost? what happened to you ?

why are you lost? what happened to you ?
my heart is worried about you
whats wrong, tell me what happened to you ?
what happened to you my darling? but what happened to you?
do you recall the old nights? do you recall our nights? now its you and the days giving us hard times.
do you recall the old nights? do you recall our nights? now its you and the days giving us hard times.

why are you lost? what happened to you ?
why are you lost? what happened to you ?
my heart is worried about you.

Harsh verdict.
What's so wrong with the English?

You may suggest corrections right here, as long as you are not able to introduce your own version for technical problems...

Comparing your translation with the translation here I don't see why the one here should get 1 star from you. It's very similar in meaning to yours and I see next to no grammatical mistake in it either (besides some orthographical issues), while yours does contain some grammatical mistakes.

1 star means, according to the FAQ: "Terrible, just like machine translation. It’s that bad, that it shouldn’t be published on this site."

So I don't see how this could be true for the translation here.

I agree
this translation can never be a machine translation, though I don't like it myself.
It deserves more than 1 star

A couple of points:

1) There is very little wrong in LOUIE's translation.. Only حيران can be read as confused, but in my opinion lost is also valid so.. 1 star nowhere near deserved.

2) Even people who can't speak Arabic can recognize flawed English in a translation; so I don't know what you're going on about there.

3) The reason why you post corrections when possible is that it helps the author improve and avoids clutter in the website.

4) I can speak both languages and have posted corrections to your translation. If you criticize, be ready to be criticized.

VelsketVelsket    Mar, 20/02/2018 - 18:31

1) حيران can be meant in the sense of lost in thought. There is some poetic license in translating and lost gets the meaning across.

2) My heart is worried about you is exactly what is meant here, but you seem to rate literal translations as better than translations that get the meaning across. Literal translations defy the reason why people get on this site, i.e. to understand the meaning of a song...

3) I concentrate about grammar because you come into this forum and brag about your better English skills when your translation has its serious flaws.

4) So you do realize you just gave someone 1* because they translated confused as lost, and instead of what changed they wrote what happened? ... In what world is that fair? If I use the same logic I'd give your translation no stars at all.

We do take it seriously when you come in and insult someone's work then provide even more shaky versions of it. Also, we do so when you insult other users like you have. I won't address the rest of your tantrum as there's little to be had from doing that since you cannot be reasoned with. This will be my last comment on this thread. Some mod should go ahead and lock this. Have a good day.

Cheers
Vel

@Velsket Thanks for putting up with this.

@Sam Lee It would be much more helpful if you had not started with the claim that the translation is completely wrong, but instead started with providing some examples of what is wrong with it. I see you now did provide some examples, but simultaneously you started using insults.
Giving unjustified ratings is against the website rules, as is insulting users. Stop with both or you'll get banned.

You don't need to explain your rating, but if you don't want to, then please remove it, or at least change it in a way that is more justified.

Regarding your question, an edit to the lyrics has been made few days ago by Eagles Hunter (as you can see mentioned beneath the lyrics). I don't know what he edited but you can ask him if you are interested in making the necessary updates to your translation.

ScieraSciera    Mar, 20/02/2018 - 19:17

You may want to improve your English. "work" has a wide range of meanings, and translations of course are a kind of work.

Regarding your other question to me, no, I don't speak Arabic. But in that comment I already mentioned that your translation doesn't differ much in meaning from the translation here. There are some small changes in meaning but not enough to make it likely that a 1-star-rating for this one here would be justified. That was what I was explaining there.

About taking it too serious: You broke the website rules, and they are there for a reason. Stop breaking them or you'll get shown the door.

ScieraSciera    Mar, 20/02/2018 - 19:33

I didn't tell you to delete your translation, but to remove your rating.
But whatever. Bye!

ScieraSciera    Mar, 20/02/2018 - 19:43

Most comments of us were written either 3 years ago, or were in reply to you getting insulting.

Some of the comments that you tried to delete can't be fully deleted because there are replies added to them.

This is a learning environment that encompasses the entire earth. Since this is relevant to others it appears here.
There is opportunity for improvement...but the author of this entry has sovereignty over their work and the sincere effort must be recognized and respected. Editors and moderators are useful resources to assist, not targets of anger and frustration. It is unwise to create problems that you cannot resolve.
Reviewing other's entries in a given language requires a level of proficiency especially if voting is critical. If you can be critical then you can explain 'prior to' it in detail. Be prepared as today to be able to explain it. I was not allowed the opportunity to review your version. Keep in mind that if you are angered so easily by others inquiring as to your actions then perhaps you would be more empathetic as to the feelings of others.
This is a team-oriented site and we exist here with the spirit of respect and cooperation. Any further issues can be addressed in a PM to me.
