paroles de أذكريني [Remember Me]

Why did you put as language "other varieties"? Is this Egyptian Arabic?

Really? Did they abandon MSA then?

A great number of Disney movies/songs are in the Egyptian dialect. Egypt has the biggest movie/series industry among all Arab country, which means the dialect is the most widely exported and understood by other nationalities. It also helps that it's not too complex compared to, for example, Tunisian, Algerian or Sudanese...etc. So it isn't all that surprising really.

By the way, my title is in line with how all Arabic content is added, as in: Transliteration (original text) [extra info]. So it doesn't need changes. Cheers.

I'm well aware most Disney movies used to be dubbed in Egyptian Arabic in the past. However, in most recent times, MSA has taken over all Disney dubbings (I think Brave was the first or one of the first). So, are you saying that this is Egyptian Arabic because you're sure it is or just because a great number of Disney movies/songs are in the Egyptian dialect? I'm asking quite simply because I'm not able to make this distinction myself.

As for the title, rules have been very recently modified:

Quote:

If the song title is written in a different alphabet than Latin, the best practice is to add both the original name and its transliterated title, in the format Original title (Transliterated title).

So please, change the title according to the new format.

The dialogue spoken at the beginning is in MSA. The song itself is in Egyptian dialect. It's not an assumption, I'm Egyptian myself. I've transcribed a couple of other songs from the same movie today, they were all in the Egyptian dialect. I haven't seen the movie, so I don't know if the dialogue itself is in MSA or Egyptian, but it seems like a bit of a mix. If I'm shown a clip or so of the dialogue I'd be able to tell you though.

Frankly about the title rule, two things are beyond me; first, that editors are not specifically informed. Second, what about the existing content? I.e: are 12 pages of Arabic artists magically going to align with the new format? Anyways, that's a rant for another page. Reverting it to the format suggested in the rule for now, thank you.

A mix of the two? That would be a curious choice. Can this clip be of any help? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMbBTyQidA4
Feel you about the rules, they're changed rather noiselessly, it's hard to notice a change of format like this.

About the changes, it's frankly a massive inconvenience. I actually found a little topic in the editor's room about it, left a comment there explaining why it's a bad idea.

And about the video; yeah, this is most interesting. It is most definitely a mix of both. It starts 100% MSA, then hits you with the Egyptian dialect for comic effect (MSA sounds so official while Egyptian sounds a bit cheery). It starts describing the artist going like "Ernesto de la Cruz, the greatest musician in history.. This square witnessed him take his first steps in becoming the most beloved star...etc etc", all in MSA.

Then it hits you with "And his guitar was so frickin cool" in Egyptian. Then it continues in Egyptian throughout the song. It then reverts back to MSA as he narrates how Ernesto was crushed by a giant bell. So yeah, most interesting choices. I like it though; it's well-done, made me laugh.

I don't dislike the new format (tbh when I first arises on LT, I did wonder why the transliteration would come before the actual title), though it's true that changing all the lyrics is gonna be hell.

Wow this mix sounds very interesting indeed! I wonder if it could be the solution they found to translate the Mexican accent of the English version into the Arabic version.

About the title: According to how we normally go about things, the title should be like so:
Othkoreeni (أذكريني) [Remember Me]

What changes were made since then? the words between [ ] are only used for songs that have a second title or OSTs like Disney ones where one song is dubbed into many languages. Velsket, direct me to the thread in the Editor's room about this issue. Thank you.
