ergreift mich nun in wilder Hast.

das all unser Tun verschlingt.

In the depths

I have dived into the calm sea
and have never asked for advice.
In doing so it became clear to me for the first time
that I've never yet dared to go so deep.

First it's quiet and gentle, so icy cold,
then I was seized hard by the current.
The fear that accompanies me
now grips me in reckless haste.

In the depths of your dreams, I want to be with you again.
In the depths of your dreams, I want to be with you.

Breath, like thought bubbles,
it ascends and blends
with the invisible thing
that swallows everything we do.

And without purpose, for every goal
I consumed my strength on the wrong path,
trusted everything to hope,
I've returned to the light.

In the depths of your dreams, I want to be with you again.
In the depths of your dreams, I want to be with you.

And the wind carries me away, ever further.
The clocks stand still, only the light withers.1
And the wind carries me away, ever further.
The clocks stand still, only the light withers.

  • 1. "Vergehen" can mean "fade", "wither", "decay" etc., but also "to pass" in the sense of time. It's quite hard to apply an English word to "light" that would also work for "time" in this fashion. Suggestions are welcome.
