Summer days

espagnol

Esa mirada tuya (x2)
No quedan días de verano (x4)

Summer days

There are no more summer days left to ask you for forgiveness
To erase from the past the damage I did to you
Without goodbye kisses and without kind words
Because I look in your eyes and my voice doesn't come to me

If I think about you I feel like this life is not fair
If I think about you and about the light of the look on your face

There are no more summer days left, the wind stole them away
A sky full of black clouds covered our last goodbye
And the sudden realization of your absence was like a solar eclipse
Why don't you come to my side ?

If I think about you I feel like life is not fair
If I think about you and about the light of the look on your face
The look on your face

Since those summer days
I live in the kingdom of loneliness
You will never know how I feel
No one will guess how I recall you

If I think about you I feel like life is not fair
If I think about you...
The look on your face (x2)
There are no more summer days left (x4)

I love this translation!

Here are a few other ways readers could think about the lyrics:

"Summer Days" could be "Days of Summer" -- both are accurate and work just fine in English.

Could say "to erase from the past the damage I did to you" in order to avoid adding a comma.

Could say "because I look in your eyes and my voice doesn't come to me" -- "no me sale" is apparently used when you can't quite come up with something; when it's on the tip of your tongue. In English, it would be natural to say "It's not coming to me!" in that situation.

Technically, it should be "I feel like this life isn't fair" because of the presence of "esta" (which shouldn't have an accent in the Spanish original).

"Mirada" is such a weird word to translate. "Gaze" is technically correct, but when I listen to the song, I imagine it being "the light of the look on your face" or "the light of the way you look at me."

Interestingly, it would also be accurate to say "the wind stole them away" as well as the current "they are gone with the wind."

I might say "covered our last goodbye" instead of "was covering our last goodbye," because both convey the Spanish intent (of setting the scene for the goodbye) and the first sounds a little better to me in English.

You could also say "And it was like I suddenly felt your absence, like a solar eclipse."

I think it should be "come to my side" instead of "go to my seashore" -- "vera" can be "edge, bank, shore" but is often used to mean "next to somebody".

There's an error in the Spanish lyrics that should be changed: "Es de esos días de verano" should be "Desde esos días de verano", making the translation something like "Since those summer days".

If it would be better for me to just make a new translation instead of leaving comments like this, let me know -- I'm learning the ropes here!

Hi!
Thank you very much for taking the time to check my translation and for making those suggestions, I really appreciate it.
I've corrected the original lyrics and rephrased the translation according to them.

About your question:
Checking other members' previous translations and then making suggestions or submitting a new translation of your own are both an option and perfectly OK, so I guess it depends on what you feel is easier to do =).
