Hello everyone :)

Please help me, I heard this beautiful turkish song, and tried to translate the lyrics using all online text translators, but of course it didn`t work.

I understand a few words but I need the whole meaning.

If someone can help me by translating it to english, thank you very very much.

Aşiyan - by Akrep Nalan

Sanki sana o özlemim
Geçmişte kaldı
Bir de üstüne karlar yağdı
Orda duran öylece biz
Olduk bir an
Kol kolaydı genç kız ve adam

Aşinayım ben bu aşka Aşiyan`a
Aşiyan`daki aşklara aşıklara
Kaç yıl oldu sorma bana
Ben seninle Aşiyan da
Bugün gibi ah aklımda

Yine burada bak bu yolda
Yeni aşklar o bakışlar
Yine olsak orda bu yaşta

Aşinayım ben bu aşka Aşiyan`a

Söyle nedir sakladığın
Bu sır yıllarca
Bu kaçıncı aşk hayatında

Durma yağ kar durma
Resmini tamamla
Yeni aşklar boya umutla

Thank you very much.

hi,minerva. here's the translation but first; "aşiyan" word means home, bird nest and it's a location in Istanbul ( http://www.google.fr/images?hl=fr&q=a%C5%9Fiyan&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=og&... ) (mostly known with it's cemetery -Aşiyan cemetery- and also writer/poet Tevfik Fikret's house -now it's called as Aşiyan Museum- is there)

Aşiyan

as if my that hankering for you
lingers in the past
and also falling snow has covered it
the ones who stand over there
became us for a moment
young girl and man were arm in arm

I'm familiar with this love, with the Aşiyan
with the loves, the lovers in Aşiyan,
don't ask me how many years have passed by
me with you in Aşiyan
it's on my mind as if it's happened today

again here, look, on this road
new loves, that glances
I wish we were be there in this age

I'm familiar with this love, with the Aşiyan

tell me what is this secret that you've been
hiding, for years
how manieth love is this in your life

don't stop snow, keep falling
and finish your picture
paint new loves, hopefully

Thank you very much :)

And thank you for the clarification that "aşiyan" means nest, I read here http://www.birsozluk.com/AR_AU/A%C5%9E%C4%B0YAN/ that it can be used as a metaphor for "home".
Would it be safe to assume that, if the song refers to a specific place, other than the location in Istanbul, and if it wouldn`t be written with a capital letter, it could be translated by the common noun, "nest" ?
Or is Aşiyan only a proper noun and it always refers to the location in Istanbul ?
Is "aşiyan" ever used as a common noun ?

Thank you very much for the translation :)

aşiyan as "home/nest" is not commonly used nowadays. it's actually a persian word, in old turkish literature it's most likely used as an allusion. but currently if a song mention about aşiyan it means "Aşiyan" as a location not as home.also that place has always been used by poets and writers because of it's romantic, calm, inspiring -sea- scenery. and old writers role on this couldn't be disregarded.
and you're welcome, anytime.. :)
