Jäätunud jäljed

lumivalge külmunud vaibaga kaetud on maa
sellest jäiselt kriipivast tundest ma lahti ei saa
kunagi
kindel olime selles, et ei miski meid lahuta
aga nüüd
veidi hiljem võin öelda, et tunnistan siin oma süüd

RAJU TORM
ON SEGI PAISANUD MEIE MAAILMA
VEEL ÜKS KORD
SU PEHMEID HUULI KAELAL TUNDA TAHAN

läbi jäätunud lillede klaasil sind tulemas näen
kui su maja ees oodates autos mul külmuvad käed
korraga
heidad pilgu mu poole? on soe naeratus sinu näol
möödub hetk
jääb vaid tuisune tänav ja jäljed, mis kaovad mu eest

RAJU TORM
ON SEGI PAISANUD MEIE MAAILMA
VEEL ÜKS KORD
SU PEHMEID HUULI KAELAL TUNDA TAHAN

kui vaid saaks keriks aja tagasi
meie ees oleks meri põlvini
kõik mis tehtud ma teeksin teisiti
kui vaid saaks?

Frozen Traces

The earth is covered with snow-white frozen carpet
I will [never] get rid of this icily scratching feeling
[once in the past]1
We were sure that nothing would separate us
but now
I may/can say a bit later that I acknowledge my fault in this case

Tempestuous storm
has shaken/messed up our world
Once more
I want to feel your soft lips on my neck

Through ice flowers on the glass I see you coming
when - while waiting for you in front of your house in a car - my hands get cold
suddenly
you cast a glance towards me. There is a warm smile on your face
A moment passes
only this street, full of snowdrift, and traces2 that disappear in front of me3 remain

Tempestuous storm
has shaken/messed up our world
Once more
I want to feel your soft lips on my neck

If I only could, I'd turn back the time
in front of us sea would be up to our knees4
Everything, that has been done, I'd do differently
if I only could.

  • 1. I'm not sure whether this "once/ever" is connected to the previous or following line
  • 2. "traces" or "footprints"
  • 3. or "disappear from me"
  • 4. dictionary translates this expression as "half-seas-over" or "Dutch courage" or "potvaliant", noting always that it has so with being drunk. Estonian one says, "feeling omnipotent and invincible? and infallible?".
