Who?

Who said that I wasn’t made to sing songs?
That I made too many grammar errors, fiasco on the horizon
Who said?

Who said to the thousand chickens in the lorry
That they’re not going on a long tour of China or Japan
Who said to the 100 metre runner, shooting himself up with dough
That he’ll end up overtaking himself and feel like an idiot
Who said?

They just lack imagination
They just lack imagination

Who said that the president would be called Edouard Balladur? 1
That we were going to be stuck with him for 7 years, like an insult
7 years of misery said my mother, while I was shredding her nerves
Life is hard, poor Balladur
Who said?

Who said to Lady Diana, come and spend a couple of days in Paris?
Who said to Johnny, ah the idea! To shake his hips like Elvis Presley 2
Who said

They just lack imagination
They just lack imagination
They just lack imagination
Just imagination
Just imagination
Just imagination

Who said?
But who said?
Who said?
Surely not I!

Oh yes, very good point! Excuse me... :)

Comprenez-vous pourquoi c'est sept ans?

Natur ProvenceNatur Provence    Jeu, 23/11/2017 - 14:41

I wrote in german, that the text is probably wrong. Elected was the french president until year 2000 (Jacques Chirac) for seven years, the 2nd mandate of Chirac was only five years after a change in the constitution.

Yes, google translate helped me out there. Ah no the text is right, I've listened to it very closely. But I think my interpretation of it was wrong as I was confusing the roles of prime minister and president as you spotted.

Ah right, yes I see now. :)

Ah, he was Prime Minister but ran for president in 95 - but failed. They would have had '7 years of misery' if he had won. According to the author and his mother. :)

Right - but who shoots up dough? I figuered it must be another drug euphemism. No? :)

Haha! That's priceless :D

GavinGavin
   Ven, 15/12/2017 - 20:09

I guess it probably means he blows all his cash on drugs- which he then shoots up. A bit like "drinking all your pay"

So you got dix ans de malheur instead eh?

GavinGavin
   Ven, 15/12/2017 - 20:36

So just 'shoots himself up with dough' then. Pretty much literal really.
I just liked the idea of him 'performance enhancing' himself so much that he 'overtakes himself' (ie comes unstuck) :)

Yeah, politically we seem to be circling the plug hole don't we :/

Oh her? She's just being ironic...
Remember how good we are at irony ;)

Paul Dacre - what a scumbag eh? It's quite terrifying how bastards like him control the minds of so many easily confused little Englanders. Well him and the Russians obvs... ;)

GavinGavin
   Ven, 15/12/2017 - 20:32

Overtake and double in size?

Dough = cash = money.
Non, it's "shoots up with cash" that I had a problem with as I was expecting drugs

SarasvatiSarasvati
   Ven, 15/12/2017 - 20:58

Elles sont interessantes ces deux phrases, car j'ai l'impression qu'elles englobent le sportif,et le responsable 'shoots himself up with dough.
