The only changes I'd make would be "string" instead of "rope" (rope would be ŝnurego), "were bothered by children's toys" instead of "were ruining children's fun" (more literal translation of "estis ĝenataj de infanaj amuziloj"), and "peaceful weapons" or "weapons of peace" instead of "peaceful war" (since "armilo" means a weapon).
Otherwise, I think this translation very effectively conveys the meaning and feeling of this song!
