Do I Still Play the Banjo
Forest is burning across the border
I just sleep
In the morning there's smoke on the streets
and the sun shrinks
You left for Paris
said you were happy
The girl is beautiful and friendly
I hate her
Nobody is expecting me
why should I get up
Before new sleep
you call after all
I lost you a long time ago
You pulled your shoulders up to your ears and walked away
This morning I want to forget it
maybe be like before
You ask whether I have cut my hair
have I changed
Do I still play the banjo
at night after dark
Do I still play the banjo
at night after dark
I sold my banjo
already last winter
but I still sing
Listen carefully
This is the last song
I'll sing for you
It's called too much
and too late
I lost you a long time ago
You pulled your shoulders up to your ears and walked away
This morning I want to forget it
maybe be like before
You ask whether I have cut my hair
have I changed
Do I still play the banjo
at night after dark
Do I still play the banjo
at night after dark
This is the last song
I'll sing for you
It's almost over
Listen carefully
I lost you a long time ago
You pulled your shoulders up to your ears and walked away
This morning I want to forget it
maybe be like before
You ask whether I have cut my hair
have I changed
Do I still play the banjo
at night after dark
Do I still play the banjo
at night after dark
Do I still play the banjo
at night after dark

This is overall a very good as translations go - BUT unfortunately there is one grave error that affects the "message" and mood of the whole song.
All the lines containing: "I want to forget"
should be: "you want to forget".
Not that important - but perhaps worth to note:
"at the night after dark" should be "in the evenings after the dark".
Also the "pulled shoulders to your ears" is of course more or less literal translation, but perhaps "hunched your shoulders" or something like that would be more appropriate - but this is of course matter of taste.
