J'ai dû rajouter plein d'espaces, ça refusait d'accepter la chanson parce que "les paroles sont trop courtes" XDD

The French makes very little sense, but the 1st line rather means something like "I am what is" (i.e. this cute rat is claiming to be the only existing thing in the universe)
I don't really know how to put that in English, if at all possible Teeth smile

I wasn't very sure about the sense of that sentence, that's why I made an interpretation of what was on hand, haha.

I'm trying to get my hands on this bloody cartoon to find out if this nonsense is justified at some point in the story, but given what I read on wikipedia it looks like the author just picked that motto because it sounded cool and epic
"I am that is" is supposedly an anagram for "I Matthias", but "Matthias" is the name of another character who is supposed to live 100 years later. I can't see how that could make any sense.
That rather looks like the kind of kid stories that assume kids are too dumb to notice inconsistencies and plot holes. Hopefully I'm wrong and I'll soon be delighted to discover the gist of the matter Teeth smile

petit élève    रवि, 21/01/2018 - 23:23

yes, I suppose you could say that, but in French that would be "je suis tout ce qui est".
I was rather wondering if you could say something as snappy as the French in English.
Maybe this line makes sense in the context of the cartoon, but on its own it's just plain nonsense anyway Regular smile

Zarina01    रवि, 21/01/2018 - 23:25

In the english version, the man says "I am that is"

petit élève    रवि, 21/01/2018 - 23:27

LOL thanks, so the translation is not to blame for the nonsense, apparently Teeth smile
Or maybe it's the God of Rats speaking?

Poni de Cthulhu    सोम, 22/01/2018 - 19:22

Simon, I think that makes more sense compared with what I wrote, (and besides, we will never know the true meaning of this), so I will correct it this way, sounds a lot better.
Thank you! Teeth smile

Well, this text can always only be heard at the end of the intro, so context doesn't really work. In the German version, they say: "Ich sah Ahmet!" ("I saw Ahmet!") I still don't know who is Ahmet… Confused smile

petit élève    रवि, 21/01/2018 - 23:30

Apparently a very powerful being Teeth smile
I'd better watch the cartoon and find out, or this mystery will cost me a couple of lives. Meow!

petit élève    रवि, 21/01/2018 - 23:49

Mmm... Apparently that's just one of the character's motto. "I am that is. My sword will wield for me".
Though the Internet bred a couple dozen fan sites including a wiki database and even a Firefox addon, it seems nobody cared to explain why the little critter utters such a complete nonsense Regular smile

SiHo_92    सोम, 22/01/2018 - 00:00

My brother used to watch it on TV all the time. I've already forgotten about this cartoon - now I know why! Wink smile
