Engler i sneen

Så hold meg bli hos meg og vær her
sov hos meg og vær her
som flyktning og elsker og venn
og la meg bli til en del av deg
låne kropp og sjel av deg
til himmelen revner igjen

englene i sneen vender hjem

engler i sneen synger uten ord
og når våren kommer går de uten svik og uten spor

Så hold meg bli hos meg og vær her
sov hos meg og vær her
som flyktning og elsker og venn
og la meg bli til en del av deg
låne kropp og sjel av deg
til himmelen revner igjen

englene i sneen vender hjem
englene i sneen vender hjem
og englene i sneen vender hjem

Angels in the snow

Angels in the snow have their own song
when the night is at its darkest
they sing about sunrise
I stood in the shadows, in the rain and wind
I was a stranger until you opened up and let me in.
I stood alone until you stepped forward
I was homeless but you made me a home
you gave me warmth when everything was frozen
the angels in the snow have 'a special' song for people like us.

So hold me, stay with me and be here
sleep with me and be here
as a refugee and lover and friend
and let me become a part of you,
borrow body and soul from you
until the heavens crack again.

The angels in the snow are returning home

Angels in the snow have their own lives
they sing of winter but when spring comes they fade away
angels in the snow have their own song
they sing, that all that lives, here and now, will once end.
angels in the snow making a song of wind
they sing to anyone who opens up and takes them in.
angels in the snow singing without words
and when spring comes, they go away with no tricks and without a trace.

So hold me, stay with me and be here
sleep with me and be here
as a refugee and lover and friend
and let me become a part of you,
borrow body and soul from you
until the heavens crack again.

The angels in the snow are returning home
the angels in the snow are returning home
and the angels in the snow are returning home.

The video you select is blocked by the german youtube because of the rights of music industry :( and so I added the other one... :)

I was homeless but you made me a home: I don't know why, but in my text I can see this 2 quadrats, can you maybe try to use some other letters?

Oh, great, the quadrats are gone, thanks!

If you are living outside of Germany you couldn't knew that we 've a organisation here called GEMA, that check out every possible public activities you can think to be payed for the music is played there, so I think GEMA wants money from youtube for all the music-videos have some codex's or signatures inside. Now I think here in Germany we're the country where you can watch the least youtube videos in the world :(

Hi TrampGuy. Just a quick correction to a otherwise great translation: in the chorus, in the second-to-last line the meaning is the opposite of what you have translated: låne kropp og sjel av deg = to borrow body and soul from you , not to lend my body and soul to you.

Also the line: jeg var en hjemløs men du gjorde meg til et hjem has a little twist to it as a direct translation would be: I was homeless but you made me into "a home". I love that line, it goes deeper than just having a home, because "being" a home is to be a place where other things might find a home and flourish (emotions, sensations, integrity etc..) ..Ok, maybe getting a bit off-track in the poetic spur of the moment here.. ;)

Thanks Gjendine, I fixed it.

Silly mistake indeed, if I remember correctly it was thinking of "låne" as "lend" that confused me. Still, no excuse as to how I managed to get one of the most common prepositions (av) wrong :)

"jeg var en hjemløs men du gjorde meg til et hjem" - It did, in fact, sound a bit weird to me, but making sense of it was quite easy by dropping the "til" in the translation, as you see I did. That way seems to preserve the same meaning plus the feelings you've described, which wasn't hard to get due to an almost identical structure of the expression in English.
In short continuance to what you wrote, the referred to character is probably not literally a homeless either :)
