The young woman went to the pasture
The young woman went to the pasture
ey ey little bird of mine, little bird of mine
to become a shepherdess
come now, come I tell you
and for her shall I become
ey ey little bird of mine, little bird of mine
a hunter in them woods
come now, come I tell you
I shall go to the pasture no longer
ey ey little bird of mine, little bird of mine
I shall not graze no longer
come now, come I tell you
I shall not talk to anyone nor laugh no longer
ey little bird of mine
I shall not tease no longer
come now, come I tell you

The woman going to the pasture has actually two meanings. One is that she has gone to the fields, to the pasture, but also to spend the Summer there. My grandmother for example, instead of saying "Summer vacation" she says "pasture", which has the only modern meaning between those speaking the Pontic Greek dialect. So, here it has the meaning of her doing her work for the household and in the meantime having a nice time. The reference upon the word bird here has a meaning like "my darling", which is usually said between beloved ones or about young people; it is considered inappropriate to call a senior "bird", unless he is your beloved one, so it's okay. The phrase "come now, come I tell you" or "ey ey etc" have no other meaning, than I suppose like the singer is trying to poetically "persuade" the listener to listen. The word "μασχαρεύω~masxarevo" does not mean at all "im not going to the calves *lol*. "Μασχαρεύω" means "I'm joking", "I'm telling a joke" or "I'm only teasing you" and is said in a polite manner. It is a love song.
