Kiitus (Pojad on mul õige naksid)

Pojad on mul õige naksid,
pistsid nahka püksitraksid.

Ise olin noorelt möirat-oirat,
kartsid mind kõik külakoirad.

Kui läksin õhtul pidusse,
tõmbasid sabad lidusse.

Aga tüdrukud, sina helde aeg,
aga tüdrikud, oh armas aeg,
olid võõbatud kui plangu aed.

Et usu aga nende ilusse,
ja paha, kui ei vii neid vilusse.

Tüdrukud mu mahajätsid,
vanad naised üles võtsid.

Võtsid nagu võid ja saia,
mis olid maha pilland maiad.

Pojad on mul õige naksid,
pojad said mul sama naksid,
pistsid nahka püksitraksid.

Ja häbi teil olgu küsida,
et kuidas minu püksid püsivad,
minu püksid püsti püsivad.

Praise (My Sons Are Quite Zealous)

My sons are quite zelous,
they gobbled up my suspenders.

When I was young myself, I was möirat-oirat1
all the dogs in the village were afraid of me.

When I went partying at night,
they pulled their tails close.

But girls, oh kind heaves,
but girls, oh dear heavens,
were painted like fences.

So believe in their beauty then
and it would be bad if you don't take them to a shadowy place.

Girls abandoned me,
old women took me over.

Took me like butter and white bread,
that had been accidentally dropped by sweet-toothed ones.

My sons are quite zelous,
my sons were born as zelous as me,
they gobbled up my suspenders.

And you'd better feel ashamed to ask
how my trousers stay up.

I am not sure what most of their songs are about... Maybe they are mostly about war but this one is a cover so maybe that explains why it is about what it is. I cannot even pinpoint, really, what that is. :D

You are welcome
