The Two Sisters
Sister spoke to sister thus:
- By the sandbank -
"We want to head to the river."
- The wave carries such a fair woman from land -
The youngest sat on a rock.
- By the sandbank -
The oldest shoved her off to harm.
- The wave carries such a fair woman from land -
"Lie there and be hurt.
- By the sandbank -
Now I will have your bridegroom."
- The wave carries such a fair woman from land -
Two pilgrims walked along the river.
- By the sandbank -
They saw the corpse lay on the sandbank.
- The wave carries such a fair woman from land -
They took her white body
- By the sandbank -
There they made a harp board
- The wave carries such a fair woman from land -
They then went to the wedding
- By the sandbank -
Then took to striking the harp.
- The wave carries such a fair woman from land -
The first strike of the harp:
- By the sandbank -
"The bride was my sister."
- The wave carries such a fair woman from land -
The second strike of the harp:
- By the sandbank -
"The bride was my bane."
- The wave carries such a fair woman from land -
The third strike of the harp:
- By the sandbank -
"The bridegroom was my suitor."
- The wave carries such a fair woman from land -
The bride spoke, red as blood:
- By the sandbank -
"Away with that harp. It makes a racket!"
- The wave carries such a fair woman from land -
The bridegroom answered, pale as bast:
- By the sandbank -
"Strike the harp more and strike it well!"
- The wave carries such a fair woman from land -
The fourth strike of the harp:
- By the sandbank -
"The bride cursed me."
- The wave carries such a fair woman from land -
The bride stamped on the musician's toe.
- By the sandbank -
"Smash that harp into small pieces!"
- The wave carries such a fair woman from land -
They took the harp and smashed it on the ground.
- By the sandbank -
And from it came a good maiden.
- The wave carries such a fair woman from land -
Bridegroom called for two young men.
- By the sandbank -
"Go to the forest and make a bonfire."
- The wave carries such a fair woman from land -
They selected alder and selected oak.
- By the sandbank -
"Select the wood which burns hot."
- The wave carries such a fair woman from land -

One of the many variants of the famous Scottish ballad "The Twa Sisters". It goes by several names and slight lyric variation across many countries and languages, often referred to as "Horpa" (the harp) in Scandinavian countries.
Here you can find one more variation I translated a while back : http://lyricstranslate.com/en/harpa-harp.html
