Never Be The Beatles (On Sera Jamais les Beatles)

Angol translation

Never Be The Beatles

Never be the Beatles
Never have the dough
In my pockets I've only got ten cents
I really have to have a reason
We'll never be the Beatles
We'll never have the dough
In my pockets I've only got ten cents
And so I give it to myself.

I give myself hell from morning to evening
And from evening to morning
But I have to have a reason
Music makes me trip
Full of love and fresh water, but
It's misery, I have no tunes, no money, no cash
I eat pasta and drink coffees
I imagine I'm rich and famous, leaving the projects
Leaving my Ecolo [political party] neighbour, reselling my anti-Ecolo badge
But I'd have to go live with posh people,
Me, who's allergic to those bastards; it freaks me out.

Never be the Beatles
Never have the dough
In my pockets I've only got ten cents
I really have to have a reason
We'll never be the Beatles
We'll never have the dough
In my pockets I've only got ten cents
And so I give it to myself.

I give myself hell because I like it
I give myself hell because I know how to do it,
I'm sick, completely sick
I think about it all night
I had a job, at the beginning it seemed
That I was crazy for work, really it watched me stay
Whole hours behind my computer
They transferred me when one day they learned
That all I did in the office was slack off
Sharing the writing of my songs with my head in the clouds
To excuse myself, I pushed my ditty at them, they thanked me, goodbye, not even a single coin.

Never be the Beatles
Never have the dough
In my pockets I've only got ten cents
I really have to have a reason
We'll never be the Beatles
We'll never have the dough
In my pockets I've only got ten cents
And so I give it to myself.

Every passing day, I spend 3/4 of my time singing NTM, Bob or Yves Montant,
I think about it 24/7, writing and my music, yeah, I'm a psycho, my wife told me to look after myself better, see a shrink, so you don't scare people, if one day I leave you, you listen to me more when I speak to you, you're elsewhere, somewhere in this space, head in the clouds
I said to her, great ideas for songs, that's deep, that inspires me
I'm such a drama queen, who loves drama, it's really good this song that ends badly...

Never be the Beatles
Never have the dough
In my pockets I've only got ten cents
I really have to have a reason
We'll never be the Beatles
We'll never have the dough
In my pockets I've only got ten cents
And so I give it to myself
And so, and so...
Never be...
Never...
Oh... no, no, no, no, no
Never be, never never never the Beatles...

A few corrections! But this was a hard one, and you did really well.

- j'ai même pas = I don't even have
- Et pourtant j'me donne à fond = And yet I give it my all
- écolo isn't a political party, it just means eco-friendly (or eco-freak, to be pejorative)
- Il faut bien que je me fasse une raison = I'm going to have to come to terms with it/resign myself to it
- J'avais un boulot, au début ils pensaient = I had a job, at the beginning they thought (the sentence continues onto to the next verse - also the spelling of the French lyrics is quite terrible)
- Que j'étais un fou de travail, tellement qu'ils me voyaient rester = That I was crazy for work, so often they saw me stay late
- ils m'ont viré = They fired me ("virer" means transfer when talking about money)
- À part = besides
- ou alors t'étonne pas mec = or else don't be surprised, my man
- tu m'écoutes même plus = you don't even listen to me anymore
- elle a fait ses bagages = she packed her bags
- c'est tellement bon une chanson qui s'termine mal = it's so great when a song ends badly
