Silent (Still)

Angol translation

Silent

Versions: #1#2#3
So silent,
that each of us knew that this time it’s -
forever,
forever and a lifetime, then it was
so silent,
that each of us were suspecting
there isn’t a word for this
that can ever describe this feeling

So silent,
That all the clocks fell silent ¹
yes, time came to a standstill
you departed so quietly and so at peace ²
you departed so quietly and so at peace

I’ve heard so many things,
but I don’t understand a one ³
and that’s the reason why I just can’t sleep at night
and when I write a thousand songs about missing you
it doesn’t mean I understand
why this feeling always stays with me

So loud, the hours after the impact when it came time to grasp and to realize what took place, and it was
so loud, that everything we thought brought us nothing but emptiness
It was so loud and so depressing here ⁴
when silence lived with us instead of you

I’ve heard so many things,
but I don’t understand a one
and that’s the reason why I just can’t sleep at night
and when I write a thousand songs about missing you
it doesn’t mean I understand
why this feeling always stays with me

So silent, although I miss you every day
and wherever you are right now
you show me that silence has now become your friend

I’ve heard so many things,
but I don’t understand a one
and that’s the reason why I just can’t sleep at night
and when I write a thousand songs about missing you
it doesn’t mean I understand
it doesn’t mean I understand

I’ve heard so many things
But I don’t understand a one
and that’s the reason why I just can’t sleep at night
and when I write a thousand songs about missing you
it doesn’t mean I understand
why this feeling always stays with me

A google search in English for „time of death” + “stopping the clock” yields similar results.

² verloren = lost, doomed, gone, forlorn, dead.
“At peace” is listed as a synonym for “gone” at the free dictionary, definition 2 of the thesaurus:

³ „kommt es niemals bei mir an“ – this is street talk and means, „I don’t get it,“ or „I don’t understand it.“

"warum dieses Gefühl für immer bleibt." hier ist kein wort zu finden was das wort "me" in deiner übersetzung rechtfertig die richtige übersetzung wäre

"why this feeling remains forever"

"I have heard so much and it never gets with me anyway,
this is the reason why, I can't sleep at night's
even if I write one thousand songs of missing,
this doesen't mean hat I understand it yet,
why this feeling remains forever"

Fox2K11, my friend:
Is this still another attempt at retaliation? Or is it because you just don’t like me? Yes, we already know it was you who rated another translation of mine with a one-star vote, without leaving comments.

To your current remarks:
1. „warum dieses Gefühl für immer bleibt“ and why „me“ is in the English text: Even you should know that that is how it’s said in English. “Me” is understood through the text. Or should it be open to interpretation, for example, with “that’s why this feeling remains with my house,” or “with my cat?”
2. In the next block, you have both grammatical and spelling errors in English, and some serious problems with how it’s effectively conveyed in English.

Have a nice day!

HI
retaliation?? and then they call me rude? are you serious? I don't even know you why should I dislike you or be hostile? it's just in your mind! regarding the one-star vote yes i voted you one-star but no strings attached and if in your view you think that there should be a "me" in your text then it shall be obviously my help is not appreciated instead you report me and accuse me of beeing rude in comments

However
I leave ya alone...

I would prefer "I listened to so much and yet I never heard it right,
Which is the reason why I cannot sleep at night.
Though I can write a thousand songs of missing you
It doesn't mean I understand
Why I remain forever feeling blue."

Your translation is a bit too close to the original text, and thats why it sounds strange on english, and doesnt match with the song and its meaning. Smile
