Nick Drake - Winter is Gone

Angol

Winter is Gone

Winter is gone
And the leaves are green
Winter is gone
And the leaves turn green
Your innocent face
I wish I never had seen

Come on, my love
And fare thee well
Come on, my love
And fare thee well
You cheated me
But I wish you well

Rope is bought
And the bough is swung
Rope is bought
And the bough is swung
An innocent man
This day will be hung

Come on, my love
And see me die
Come on, my love
And see me die
See me dancing
Dancing 'neath the sky
'Neath those gallows high
Come on and see me die

Winter is gone
And the leaves are green
Winter is gone
And the leaves are green
Your innocent face
I wish I never had seen

Is there any explanation for the double asterisks ?

gamgin    Kedd, 17/10/2017 - 11:53

No, I couldn't see them either. Sad smile

Do they sing the line twice? I haven't heard the song yet.

PS: After listening to it, I only once heard him clear his throat where the asterisks were, but just once.
Can it be that someone scanned the lyrics from a CD-booklet and the OCR program failed to ignore some spots from a background image?

No, he isn't singing them twice; I have just listened to the song.

I did too, I just edited my comment.

Hmm. What you say could have happened...

However, thank you very much for requesting the translation. I hadn't heard of Nick Drake before though I'm a great fan of folk music.

You're welcome and I thank you for offering an eloquently-translated text. Regular smile
