Ревіли гармати;
І славу, і волю;
Пливуть собі та співають;
Гасне люлька в роті;

Ivan Pidkova*
Once upon in Ukraine
Guns roared;
Once upon - zaporizhci*
Were able to rule
They was ruling and achieving
Their glory and freedom.
All that passed and what was left
are tombs in the field.
These high tombs
Where white cossack's body
Layed for rest
Wrapped in chinese herbs
These high tombs
blackens like mountains.
And talk about freedom on the sly
With winds in fields.
Witness of a grandfather's glory
Talk with the wind.
And grandson carries his scythe in dew
and sings along them.
Once upon in Ukraine
Hard times have danced.
Sorrow in the bar
served honey brewed vodka.
Once upon the life was good
in the Ukraine...
Let's remember! Maybe our hearts
will be at peace even for a little.
Black cloud from behind the Leeman*
covers the skies, the sun.
Blue sea like a beast
is moaning and yawling.
Dnieper's estuary drowned.
"Hey, guys!
(get) In you baydaks*! Sea is singing -
Let's go for a walk!"
So the cossacks poured out
covered the Leeman with (their)boats.
"Do sing, sea!" - they singed.
Waves were (made) foamed.
And the waves all around us, like mountains:
(like)theres no sky and no ground.
Heart is thrilled and it is
Just what cossacks want.
So they sail and sing:
The fishes are flying...
And the chieftain is on the front (of the ship)
Guides (us) where he knows.
So he walks along the baydak,
And puffs his pipe;
Looks here and there -
Where's our job?
So he twirled his black moustache,
(place) forlock behind the ear,
Rised his hat - and ships had stopped.
"Let our enemies die!
Not the Sinop, chieftains
Good lords.
But in Tsargrad*, to the sultan
Let us make our visit!"
"Fine, our father-chieftan!" -
Roars from everywhere.
"Thank you!"
(He's) Put his hat on.
And the sea starts boiling (again).
Blue sea. Along the baydak
There again is walking
Lord chieftain and silently
Looks at the wave.

Russia is waging a disgraceful war on Ukraine. Stai con l'Ucraina!
Pidkova means a horseshoe, but it is a surname, so not translated.
Zaporizhci - the inhabitants of Zaporizh(zh)e, cossacks of zaporizhzhya.
Leeman - firth, but looks like it's geographical name.
Baydak - a kind of ship
Tsargrad - Constantinople.
That is actualy a same named verse from the most classic ukrainian poet Shevchenko (no, the footballer didn't verse, thanks satan) from his most classic book Kobzar. But I haven't found it's translation online, so this is not any classic translation. And it's not that "folk song" it surely has an author, also the teachers told me "his verses sometimes becamed folk songs".
