The Dancing Divas

Dance...
Go sway on the waxed wood floor...
The violins make you dream...
Eyes in eyes...
Make them turn...
And make yourself desire...
You who know a woman's heart so well...
All the words that set them alight1
Those damned by the time of a tango...
Shivering and smelling of perfume...
You know where to find them...
The dancing divas...
The dancing divas...
The mambo maniacs...
Those that you'll never see in the clubs...
The sax buffs...
The passo2 nutcases...
Those who still think about the days of Mikado3...
The dancing divas...
The dancing divas...
Dance...
Do you hear their desire whispering...
The bandolines4 make you dream...
Make them die the time of a kiss...
Under the shadow of a palm tree...
You who make women's skin burn...
Without ever giving your soul...
To those who swoon under your gaze...
Shivering and smelling of perfume...
You know where to find them...
The dancing divas...
The dancing divas...
Those that you'll never see in the clubs...
The sax buffs...
The passo nutcases...
Those who still think about the days of Mikado...
The dancing divas...
The dancing divas...
Without ever giving your soul...
Without ever shedding any tears...
Tears! Tears!
The dancing divas...
The dancing divas...
Locked hearts, frozen hearts...
They keep a bit of brilliantine5 from you...
On the tips of their fingers...
This blue neck that they love to kiss...
The dancing divas...
The dancing divas...
The dancing divas...
The mambo maniacs...
Those that you'll never see in the clubs...
The sax buffs...
The passo nutcases...
Those who still think about the days of Mikado...
The dancing divas...
The dancing divas...

  • 2. I can't find what this means anywhere
  • 3. I'm not sure what exactly this is referring to but possibly this: The Mikado; or, The Town of Titipu is a comic opera in two acts, with music by Arthur Sullivan and libretto by W. S. Gilbert, their ninth of fourteen operatic collaborations. It opened on 14 March 1885, in London, where it ran at the Savoy Theatre for 672 performances, the second-longest run for any work of musical theatre and one of the longest runs of any theatre piece up to that time.

I believe Paso refers to the Paso Double which is a type of ballroom dance. Its also an ice dance. with the other dance references here seems to make sense. fantastic translation!!
