aller Gedichte uns fast tödlich träfe;

Vertaling
Early Apollo
As sometimes, through still leafless
branches, a morning already fully
in Spring filters through: so his head has about it
nothing that could bar the aura
of the whole of poetry from striking us almost dead;
for there is no shadow yet in his gaze;
too cool, still, for the laurel his temples,
and not until later will his eyebrows
burst forth in a tall-stemmed rose garden,
from which leaves, falling singly,
will swirl at the quaking of his mouth
that's now yet still, never-used and gleaming,
and only drinking something in with its smile,
as if receiving its inspiration to sing.

Just in case you didn't know, Rilke is talking about a statue of Apollo in the Archaic period style, something like this: http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/photo/kouros-550-bc-archaic-greek-scul...
Unfortunately, because I'm not a poet, they just look goofy to me. Heaven only knows how many other aspects of the world and of life that I've only read about in poems would turn out to be merely goofy if I experienced them myself. That's why I prefer the life of the mind ;)
