Sal sér hon standa
Sal sér hon standa
sólu fegra,
gulli þakðan
á Gimléi;
þar skulu dyggvar
dróttir byggja
ok um aldrdaga
ynðis njóta.
Þá kemr inn ríki
at regindómi
öflugr ofan,
sá er öllu ræðr.
Þar kemr inn dimmi
dreki fljúgandi,
naðr fránn, neðan
frá Niðafjöllum;
berr sér í fjöðrum,
— flýgr völl yfir, —
Niðhöggr nái.
Nú mun hon sökkvask.
- Gimléi:
In Norse mythology, Gimlé (alternately Gimli as in Icelandic) is a place where the worthy survivors of Ragnarök are foretold to live. It is mentioned in the Prose Edda and the Eddic poem "Völuspá" and described as the most beautiful place in Asgard, more beautiful than the sun.
- Niðafjöllum:
Niðafjöll, also written Niðvellir, often anglicized as Nidafjöll, which means dark mountains, are located in the northern underworld. Niðafjöll is the site from which the dragon Níðhöggr comes. According to Snorri Sturluson, the good and virtuous people will live here in a golden palace after the Ragnarök, despite its proximity to Hel.
- Niðhöggr:
In Norse mythology, Níðhöggr (Malice Striker) is a dragon who gnaws at a root of the world tree, Yggdrasil.

A hall I see it stands
64. More fair than the sun, | a hall I see,
Roofed with gold, | on Gimle it stands;
There shall the righteous | rulers dwell,
And happiness ever | there shall they have.
65. There comes on high, | all power to hold,
A mighty lord, | all lands he rules.
66. From below the dragon | dark comes forth,
Nithhogg flying | from Nithafjoll;
The bodies of men on | his wings he bears,
The serpent bright: | but now must I sink.
