English Folk - Whiskey In The Jar

Whiskey In The Jar

As I was going over
The Cork and Kerry mountains
I saw Captain Farrell
And his money he was counting
I first produced my pistol
And then produced my rapier
I said "Stand and deliver
Or the devil he may take you"
I took all of his money
And it was a pretty penny
I took all of his money and
I brought it home to Molly
She swore that she'd love me
No Never would she leave me
But the devil take that woman
For you know she treat me easy
Mush a ring dum a doo dum a da
Whack for my daddy'o
Whack for my daddy'o,
There's Whiskey in the jar, o
Being drunk and weary
I went to Molly`s chamber
Taking my Molly with me
And I never knew the danger
For about six or maybe seven
In walked Captain Farrell
I jumped up, fired off my pistols
And I shot him with both barrels
Now some men like the fishing
And some men like fowling
And some men like to hear
The cannonballs are roaring
Me - I like sleeping
Specially in my Molly's chamber
But here I am in prison,
Here I am with a ball and chain, yeah

This lyrics needs some corrections! Wink smile
Last verse of the second stanza: "For you know she TRICKED me easy"
First verse of the chorus: "MUCHA RAIN dum a doo dum a da"

The lyrics don't correspond to the song at all. It's the text sung by Metallica.

Since I was the last one, who worked on this, I'll correspond.

Unfortunately I can't get access to this video anymore, from the place where I am located. So I can't give a statement about the correspondance lyrics vs. video.

About the song:
It is an Irish traditional with its origin in the 17th century and the author unknown.
So we can assume that it certainly has gone through many changes during the times passing, and today nobody can tell what the "Original Lyrics" are.
It has been recorded by numerous professional artists since the 1950s and many created their own version[s].

Dear, I'm just saying that the video doesn't correspond to the lyrics. Anyway, anyone who reads this may use the above link to sort it out. I just didn't want to leave readers wondering. Thank you, honey. Regular smile
