Suzana Popescu - Chematul puilor
Oricum, să profităm de rubrica deschisă: Ce zice, fraților, în versul care începe cu Pătuțu'?
Măi puiuț de rândune',
Măi puiuț de rândune',
N-ai văzut pe mama me'?
N-ai văzut pe mama me', măi?
N-ai văzut pe mama me', măi?
Am văzut-o lângă jatră,
Frământa la chită albă,
Chită albă frământa,
Lăcrimi amari vărsa, măi,
Lăcrimi amari vărsa, măi.
Măi puiuț de rândune',
Măi puiuț de rândune',
Du-ti zi-i și mamii așe,
Du-ti zi-i și mamii așe, măi
Du-ti zi-i și mamii așe, măi:
Chită albă nu frământe,
Chită albă nu frământe,
După mine nu să cânte,
După mine nu să cânte, măi,
Că unde m-o dat nu mi-i ghine,
Unde m-o dat nu mi-i ghine,
Pătuțu' ..............................
Pătuțu' ..............................
Perina din flori de schini e, măi
Unde m-o dat nu m-o scoate,
Unde m-o dat nu m-o scoate
Numa' Dumnezeu cu moarte', măi,
Numa' Dumnezeu cu moarte', măi,
Numai Dumnezeu cu moarte', măi,
Măi puiuț de rândune',
Măi puiuț de rândune',
N-ai văzut pe mama me'?
N-ai văzut pe mama me', măi?
N-ai văzut pe mama me', măi?
Partea cu Pătuțu începe la minutul 2:18.
Aș zice:
Pătuțu mi-i de călin sau căline/i (fructul/fructele), dar nu pot să bag mâna în foc.
Wow...weird wording and variant spellings. One line that I couldn't "get" was "Du-ti zi-i și mamii așe". Can you help me out with that line?
Thanks,
~K

De ce nu pot să deschid fisierul în SUA???? aaarrrrgh..."nu este disponibil în țara dumneavoastră"
~K
Care fișier nu este disponibil în SUA? Cel de pe youtube sau cel de pe trilulilu? They say one can use a proxy too get access to video unavailable to onețs country, but I have no idea how to do it or what a proxy is.
Du-ti zi-i și mamii așe = Du-te și zi-i (spune-i) și mamei așa, Go and tell your mother (something like) this.
The second și means too / also / as well.
P.S. Try this link to watch the video, but have a bit of patience because it loads slower.
Is that some form of colloquial speech, or some kind of dialect? I would've had no problem with "Du-te și zi-i și mamei așa".
Fișierul de pe trilulilu nu este disponibil. În trecut, puteam să văd videoclipurile de pe trilulilu fără probleme, dar acum îmi dă mesajul ăsta cu multe fișiere. Nu știu de ce...
~K
Well, the proxy link did get me to the page, but there was no video!
~K
Sorry if that proxy thing didn't work. Anyway, it's a lady (Suzana Popescu, the one who sings the song above) who calls chicken to her: pui, 'ui, 'ui, pui-pui, pui, țâr-țâr, ui-ui-ui, hai, hai, pui-pui-pui, mânca-v-ar oala, puii mamii tare mititei, something like that.
Hmm, what kind of O-zone fan are you? It's Moldovan "grai", not really a dialect. It's just letter replacement, we don't consider that to be dialectal.
LOL...when I've seen Dan Bălan interviewed, I've noticed oddities in the way he pronounces some words (like using "e" sound for "ă" and vice versa), but I've generally been able to understand him. Maybe it was because he was on TV...LOL :) Some of the things they were mentioning in the article, I noticed when I was in the villages around Iași (and my Romanian teacher sort of "warned" me that I would notice differences). I'm going back this coming spring (same medical mission) so I'll get a chance to hear it again.
~K
I think you were able to understand Dan Bălan because he spoke to your heart :P
I assume the differences between "graiul muntenesc" and "graiul moldovenesc" are similar to those between Br. English and Am. English. The song above also has an old patina ("chită"/"pită" instead of "pâine"), some archaic word oder ("nu să cânte" instead of "să nu cânte"). The rest is letter/sound replacement ("ghi" instead of "bi", "chi" instead of "pi").
How sad that song is! I also recommend you this one.
