Grande è la Fede in Te

Inglês

Great is thy faithfulness

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be.

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Grande è la Fede in Te

Grande è la Tua fedeltà, o Dio, Padre mio; (1)
Non vi è ombra di sviamento con Te; (2)
Tu non sei incostante, i Tuoi atti di pietà raggiungono sempre lo scopo; (3)
Tale come Tu sei stato, Tu per sempre sarai.

Grande è la Tua fedeltà!
Grande è la Tua fedeltà!
Mattina dopo mattina vedo nuova benevolenza.
Tutto ciò di cui ho avuto bisogno, la Tua mano (mi) ha fornito;
Grande è la Tua fedeltà, Signore, su di me !

Estate e inverno e primavera e raccolto,
Sole, Luna e stelle nei loro percorsi lassù,
si uniscono a tutta la Natura per una multiforme testimonianza
Per la Tua grande fedeltà, benevolenza e amore.

Perdono per il peccato e pace duratura
La Tua cara presenza per recare gioia e per avere una guida; (4)
Forza per l'oggi e una luminosa speranza per il domani,
Benedizioni tutte per me, con (altre) diecimila accanto !

Comentário do autor:

This text uses archaic English features (pronouns and verb endings).
It likely refers to the religious ideology of which talks about the book named "The Holy Bible" where "God" is seen as a male supernatural being ("Father").

(1) "Thy faithfulness is great" = "la Tua fedeltà è grande": my translation is too much literal and seems to say: "you really are faithful"; instead, if the verse says: "you are worthy of a great trust", then the correct translation should be:
- "Grande è la Fede in Te"

(2) "turning": literaly, it represents the act of curving (like when driving); talking about Psychology and Spirituality, correct terms could be: "deviare", "sviare" (which say that someone is going lost from the Straight Way)

(3) - "thou changest not", I translated as if "You never change your mind";
(3) - "they fail not": I decided to translate Negative with Positive and my translation says: "always reach their target"

(4) "to guide" = instead than in the active form, I decided to translate as: "to have a guide"

2nd line: Not so sure about your interpretation of 'turning', but it works well.
3rd line: There should be no comma between pietà and raggiungono, as the Italian translation is less convoluted than the English one.
7th line: I'd translate it as 'giorno dopo giorno', as it is more common in Italian.
11th and 12th line: testimonianza alla Tua...
13th to 16th line: I do not see the need for understanding 'to pray for': pardon, peace, presence, strength and hope are the blessings of the last line. I'd translate: Perdono [...] pace [...] presenza [...] forza [...] speranza per il domani: benedizioni tutte per me [...].

Thank you Guest; I agree and thank you very much for all corrections but for line 7th: I still prefer a literal translation.
