Hair Like Spun Gold
In came the beautiful wife,
whom Åsmund would like to win.
She had hair like spun gold
and weaved into silk white fabric.
In came the beautiful wife,
whom Åsmund would like to get.
She had hair like spun gold
and weaved into silk thread.
Hair like spun gold,
weaved into silk band.
Hair like spun gold,
weaved into silk band.
Åsmund jumped out of the bed,
and took her in his arms.
Åsmund jumped out of the bed,
and took her in his arms.

As far as I know, 'viv' has always been used only for 'wife,' but I could be wrong. However, I think it fits the context quite well, as she is to become his wife, if he saves her.

The lyrics are based on the medieval Norwegian legend of Åsmund Frægdegjevar. In these lyrics Åsmund has just seen princess Irmelin; whom he is to save from the imprisonment by the ruler of Trollebotten, Hukbrud; for the first time. That he speaks about winning her is due to the fact that Irmelin's father, the king, promised her to Åsmund, if he was able to save her.
