It’s the typical sassarese self-irony.
Sassareses have a particular cooking. They were traditionally gardeners, so they eat mainly vegetables, snails and the less fine parts of meat (nerves, entrails etc.) well sauced and heavily spicy. So they often suffer from hemorrhoids.
Moreover, they have the self-conceit to be burghers, in contrast with the peasants of the villages that they call “biddincuri” (from Latin “villae incolae”).
Conversely, the peasants, who were mainly shepherds and eat a lot of good meat with no spices, nicknamed the Sassareses as “magna-cauri” (cabbage-eaters).
But Sassareses are so jovial that they love to joke about their own cooking … and their hemorrhoids :bigsmile:
