Taganka
Gypsy woman with cards, a long road,
A long road, government will provide a home
Perhaps the old Central prison
Awaits the unfortunate me anew.
Taganka - all nights full of fire.
Taganka - why have you ruined me?
Taganka - I'm your permanent prisoner,
Gone are the youth and talent in your walls.
I know this well, no need to guess:
My destiny lies behind thick bars...
Again on Fridays there'll be visits
And bitter tears of my relatives.
Taganka - all nights full of fire.
Taganka - why have you ruined me?
Taganka - I'm your permanent prisoner,
Gone are the youth and talent in your walls.
Go, my love, go, my pretty one,
Go, my child, follow your own path.
May it remain a deep secret,
That this time spring was for you and me
Taganka - all nights full of fire.
Taganka - why have you ruined me?
Taganka - I'm your permanent prisoner,
Gone are the youth and talent in your walls.

The song is about Taganka Prison built in Moscow in 1804 by Alexander I, emperor of Russia. It gained notoriety for its use as a prison for political prisoners, both by the ruling tsars and during the years of the Soviet Union, by the Communist Party. The prison was razed in the 1950s.
