My Eyes In Lock With Yours

My eyes in lock with yours *
My eyes in lock with yours

My eyes are enlocked with yours, my supernal love mate
That is beyond our control, love of my life x2

Love is indeed eternal life in itself x2

My eyes in this lock with yours found lights
My soul in this lock with yours found life x2

As love is indeed eternal life in itself x2

Life is the story of love
If there is no love, where is life? x2

As love is indeed eternal life in itself x2

My eyes in lock with yours

A candle desires to melt, why is it so?
Why does the moth strive for burning?

This craze is the life test x2

Grant this love another life
And this story doesn't end up in death

How to live x2
Without love

How to live x2
Without love

There are no people void of love
With every single soul thirsting
Every single heart wondering

Where love is, there is life
If love is missing, there’s no life

My eyes in lock with yours found lights
My soul in lock with yours found life

1. Line 4: "नहीं बस में अब ये जिया सांवरे x२"
It means "My heart is not in control, my love."

2. Shamaa: in this song Shamaa refers to candle(Shamaa being an Urdu word as well.)
Which makes that line to translated as:
"Why does the candle always desire to melt?"

Swapnil, I couldn't find शमा in the dictionary. Is there such a word in Hindi? I know for sure that it's one of the names of Draupadi. I don't question the correctness of your translation. I know that lots of words from Urdu are used in Billywood lyrics as Urdu is considered to be more poetic. I'll correct that into a candle, of course.
नहीं बस में अब ये जिया सांवरे This I don't understand at all. Are you saying that
जिया सांवरे like पिया सांवरे are sort of address "sacred love, celestial love etc."?
But what about नहीं बस में अब ये ? There's no word for heart so what kind of expression is it? I see "But not now ..." How come? :)

"नहीं बस में अब ये ____” means "____ is not in control", while "जिया" means "heart" or "soul" considering situation and line of the song.
"Shamaa" and "Jiya" both words come from Urdu.

सांवरे means "darlin" or "my love". The sentence becomes like set of two parts of one sentence.
Eg. नहीं बस में अब ये जिया, + सांवरे

पिया & सांवरे both words mean "darling" or "my love"(for this scenario). It is just like adjusting for rhyming words

So बस means control??? When they say बस in films I thought it was Stop, enough or am I imagining things? Yes, पिया सांवरे basically means a partner for the next seven lives and may be eternity. I watch two shows at a time. जिया सांवरे looks more like Love of my life. Ok, thank you for clarifying/ I'll correct that line.
बहुत बहुत धन्यवाद! :)

Both meanings are valid, only for this one the meaning changes like this for the word "बस"

It's a good translation, Nadia, but I just want to make a few comments.

तोसे नैना लागे पिया सांवरे
नहीं बस में अब ये जिया सांवरे
My understanding of these lines is: "when our eyes met (for the first time) my life (or maybe "my heart") went out of my control". In other words, he is talking about love at first sight. The lyrics don't mention "for the first time" but I think it's implied.

I know what you mean by "My eyes in lock with yours" but I think it sounds very odd in English. It's much more natural to say "when our eyes met" or "when I look into your eyes".

तोसे नैना लागे मिली रौशनी
तोसे मन जो लागा मिली जिंदगी
"When our eyes met, I received (saw) sunlight,
When our hearts met, I received life."

मोहब्बत जिसे बक्श दे जिंदगानी
नहीं मौत पर ख़त्म उसकी कहानी
"Someone, on whom life bestows love,
His / her story doesn't end with death" (in other words, their story is eternal).

I'm not very sure of my interpretation; some of it might be inaccurate.

In one of your comments you wanted to know the meaning of शमा. Here is the dictionary entry: http://shabdkosh.com/hi/translate?e=%E0%A4%B6%E0%A4%AE%E0%A4%BE&l=hi

As for बस, it has a few different meanings.
As you rightly said, it means "enough".
It also means "bus" (the vehicle); we use the same word in Hindi.

The third meaning appears in this song.
बस में होना means "to be in control"
बस से बाहर होना means "to be out of control"
(बस is a synonym of काबू )
It is used to say that something or someone is within or out one's control.

It has yet another meaning. It is used in a negative sentence to mean that someone is not capable of doing a particular activity.
For example: (1) चीनी भाषा सीखना मेरे बस की बात नहीं हैं (Learning Chinese is beyond me / I am not capable of learning Chinese)
(2) यह बक्सा उठाना तुम्हारे बस की बात नहीं हैं (You can't lift this box / You're not capable of lifting this box).

Once again, well done with the translation, particularly since Hindi is not your mother tongue! I hope my comments were useful :-)

Hello, Black Eagle! Why, your comments are so much to the point, thank you. Actually you sound like a language teacher so well you explain things with examples and all! Thank you. I'd like to explain myself on a few point around here. There are a few translations of the song. The option you suggest "When our eyes met, my heart went out out of control " etc. already exists in the net. I may agree it sounds more convenient to English speakers and at the same time tackier. But I didn't care for their convenience very much. I've given them a footnote. I wanted to give this song a bit more of Bollywood touch. I know this interpretation is very personal but I wanted it to be such. Btw, why you refer to रौशनी as sunlight? I thought it's "lights" of any type. Anyway, thank you for giving examples in Devanagari, it's enjoyable and besides, I have problems with transliteration. It makes it next to impossible to work with a dictionary. :)

Black_eagleBlack_eagle    Joi, 03/11/2016 - 10:14

Yes, your translation is unique!

You're right -- रोशनी means light of any kind. I just felt that in this context "sunlight" was a better translation; but I suppose "light" is fine as well.
