If there's a God

Bosniacă

Ako ima Boga

Negdje u tvome adresaru
Pod slovom B je moje ime
Prekriži ga noćas i stavi
Krst pepela i krst tišine
Ako ima Boga

Sto zima a nijedno ljeto
Poneka mrvica sa tvog stola
A nikad niko nije ček'o
Kao što čekah ja do bola
Ako ima Boga

Moji drugovi odavno
Kuće imaju
Samo moja kuća je
Bez krova
Prokleta bit ćeš
O ako ima Boga
U paklu gorit ćeš

Sanjao sam
E kako ulaziš u moju pjesmu
Ulaziš prosto k'o u svoju baštu
Pod pazuh doliječu ti lastavice
Ja pjevam bijela mi krila rastu
A više me ne boli

Sanjao sam
E kako s anđelima jedeš trešnje
I kako anđeli na mene liče
I kako šapučem u tvoje krilo
Rađaj mi djecu kao kolačiće
A više me ne boli

If there's a God

Versions: #1#2

Somewhere in your address book,
Under the letter B lies my name.
Cross it out and mark it
with a cross of ash and a cross/vow of silence.
If there's a God...
A hundred winters, not one summer,
A few breadcrumbs off your table;
No one has ever waited for as long
As I have waited, waited in pain.
If there's a God...
[Ref]
My comrades all have houses of their own
Since long ago.
Only my house
Lacks a roof...
You will be damned,
If there's a God
You will burn in hell.
[/Ref]
I have dreamed,
Oh, how you are coming into my song,
Walking in as if entering your own garden,
Swallows(the birds) are swooping in under your arms,
I sing, and grow white wings.
But I'm no longer in pain...
I have dreamed,
Oh, how you eat cherries with the angels,
And how the angels look like me,
And how I whisper into your lap,
Bear me children, like you are making cookies.
But I'm no longer in pain...

Doesn't the letter B stand for Boga (God)? If so, I'd say "under the letter G is my name".

MayGoLoco     Februarie 24th, 2012

The letter B doesn't stand for God. He's listed in her addressbook under the letter B, might be for Bregovic, Goran Begovic might have written these lyrics, I'm not sure...

Calusarul     Februarie 24th, 2012

Ah, right, it makes sense. I don't know what I was thinking. I'll listen to it again.
What's with "Prokleta bit ces"? Does he put a spell on the others (those who have good houses) or is he ironic to himself?

MayGoLoco     Februarie 24th, 2012

I think he's damning her because he's heartbroken. She doesn't want to be with him or she broke his heart for some unknown reason. His friends have relationships/are married (houses), yet his house is still incomplete without a roof...

I like the sentence: radjaj mi djecu kao kolacice Tongue

I seem to always get to this songs when men have broken hearts Tongue Thsnks for the (de)briefing.
Yeah, kolacice

Tell me, MayGoLoco, I remember in the late 90s, when people in Serbia were protesting against Slobodan Milosevic, they said on the news that there were rock bands in the public square(Drunk playing songs. What rock bands were there at that time? I would like to listen to a few of the songs performed there.

MayGoLoco     Februarie 24th, 2012

I have no clue who those bands where which performed there on the square(Drunk.

But here's a list with some 90's rock bands.

Here's another list with some ex-yu rock bands listed.

Hope those links help you!

Thanks, I'll check them right away. I can't get "Ooo, ooo... ako ima Boga" out of my head now.
Can you tell me what the name of the band stands for?
I know Bijelo = white (Belgrade/Beograd = White City) and google translate says dugme = button. White Button? What is that? I'm thinking... the red button is in urban mythology the button that presidents of the nucler powers can push to launch nuclear missiles, and I guess the white button launches peace. Am I right here or am I just imagining things? Google translate also says the two words together mean Ludacris, but I have no idea what ludacris means. Some "cool" way of saying "ludicrous"?

MayGoLoco     Februarie 24th, 2012

Hahah well I must say I've been listening to this song the whole day because of YOU! Bad Calusarul!!!

There's a whole story about how they became Bijelo Dugme on Wikipedia. About different band formations/members/band names etc. Then they finally chose the name Bijelo Dugme (= white button) after a song they were already known for called Kad bi bio bijelo dugme.

I've never heard of bijelo dugme meaning ludacris though...never trust google translate Wink
