Poni de Cthulhu    Joi, 15/03/2018 - 04:59

I just opened the collection to suggest this song, haha Heart you were faster

mk87    Vineri, 16/03/2018 - 09:47

It's already there (I had accidentally even added it twice). Great song! Teeth smile

petit élève    Vineri, 16/03/2018 - 09:57

Ah sorry, I missed it. Too many songs in the list I guess Teeth smile
At any rate you've gained an English translation. Not 100% sure about a couple of lines though.

petit élève    Vineri, 16/03/2018 - 10:01

Eurythmic's "sweet dreams", really? I never thought the song was about sex.

mk87    Vineri, 16/03/2018 - 10:16

Yeah, me either, but I accepted that interpretation.

magicmulder    Vineri, 16/03/2018 - 10:16

Apparently many people think that "some of them want to abuse you, some of them want to be abused" refers to BDSM practice.
The band has repeatedly denied the song has anything remotely to do with sex. I never had that impression either. It's obviously a statement on society.

petit élève    Vineri, 16/03/2018 - 10:19

The misunderstanding itself tells something about our society too Teeth smile

magicmulder    Vineri, 16/03/2018 - 10:23

What it tells about most is how little people pay attention to the rest of the song. Reading those two lines in isolation, fine, but in the context of the song it's impossible to see a sexual reference.
Unless you go way out of line and assume that she's singing about her new-found love for BDSM, then "Sweet dreams are made of this, who am I to disagree?" becomes "This is a great way of having sex, how could I not have known?". Teeth smile But if you go down that rabbit hole, you have to include "Ring of Fire" or "I am the walrus" in this here list, too. Teeth smile

Higgs Boson    Vineri, 16/03/2018 - 10:36

Oh, I had never interpreted the song like that, but the more I ponder on it, the more sense it makes to me. But, then again, isn't everything about sex, after all?

Higgs Boson    Vineri, 16/03/2018 - 11:03

A song is a work of art, always. The listener can interpret it however they like, regardless of the artist's intention. Let us dirty-minded people have our say in this.  Teeth smile
