La menteuse

La menteuse
Elle est amoureuse

Amel, Kayline, 2010
Pour toutes nos sœurs
Démasqué d'leurs vices

Menteuse

Tu as peur de te faire recaler

Miss please

Ton attitude a changé
Son nom revient dans tes phrases
Et quand il est là
T'es plus des nôtres

Liar liar

Liar liar
Pants on fire

Amel, Kayline, 2010
For all our
found out sisters

Liar

You pretend not to see him.
To your friends you say you don't like him
But you beg friendship from
everybody standing between you two.
Sometimes you stare at him from a distance
and your heart goes bang.

Liar liar pants on fire

You're bluffing, you would not like to be found out.
To the other girls you say he's not your style.
But you're only fooling yourself.
You can't stop talking about him,
you're afraid to fail the grade

Miss please
When he talks to you, you run away
It's about time you make up your mind
Or another will be quicker
he'll become your love that never could be

Liar liar pants on fire

You pretend there's nothing but we found you out
You look so daft, lost in your thoughts
Too much of a scatterbrain
these last months

You try so hard to hide it
that your mask falls off.
And each time he walks by
you lie silent in wait
stiff and staring,
as if something amazed you.
It makes you forget what goes on
around you
Worse than being bewitched

Don't "what's going on" us
"What are you talking about ?"
"No really, no I'm not interrested"

Liar liar pants on fire

Too smart to fool us
Stop trying, you've been found out
You can pretend with others
Your attitude has changed
His name keeps coming back in your sentences
And when he's around
you're not part of the gang.

Comentariile autorului:

"ouh la menteuse, elle est amoureuse" (Booh liar, she's in love) is a sing-song used to tease a girl for having a crush. It originates from a very popular TV show led by the (in)famous Dorothée

The lyrics use a lot of teen slang. Rather than trying to render the English equivalent and failing miserably, I just made a flat translation.

Some of the terms used in the song:

"démasqué de leur vice" -> "vice" (same meaning as in English in usual French) is often used as "hypocrisy", so the expression is just an elaborate equivalent of "found out".
"gratter" -> like "scrounge up"
"zoomer" -> lock ones gaze to something (like a camera)
"griller" -> find out
"se faire recaler" -> fail a school exam
"être rôdé" -> look stupid
idylle -> an old-fashioned word for "love affair", here used for "unrequited love"
"faire cevi" -> cevi is an alternative form of vice, used as hypocrisy, broadly meaning "trying to hide something", "pretend nothing is happening/has happened"
"faire genre" -> pretend (to be)
"crâmer" -> same as "griller" (find out)

Good job with the slang! As for my suggestions, I don't have many and they're just little things Smile

Les gens qu'il peut y avoir entre vous -> instead of "every people" you can put "everybody"

Pire qu'ensorcellée -> worse than *being* bewitched
