Precious

I know what's enchanting
about my beautiful Puerto Rico
That's why I love her so
and I'll always call her Precious
I know of her darkly colored women
know the smell of her roses
for this it is my rich earth
always I will call her Precious

Island of the Caribbean
Island of the Caribbean
Puerto Rico

The waves of the sea that bathe you
call you Precious
Precious for being enchanting
for being an Eden
and you have the nobility
of mother Spain
and the fiery song of the brave indian
that you also have

[Chorus:]

The bards that sing your history
call you Precious
It doesn't matter that the tyrant treats
you with black hatred

You would be precious without a flag
without laurels, or glory
Precious, Precious
the sons of liberty call you

Precious, I carry you inside
so deep inside my heart
and while much time passes
my love for you grows

because now I understand
because now I understand
that regardless of what happens
I will be Puerto Rican
I will be Puerto Rican
wherever I walk, ooohhh
because I carry it in my blood
for the heritage of my parents
and with pride I repeat
I love you Puerto Rico
I love you Puerto Rico

and that is why it is born in me today
to dedicate to her this song
to this noble country man Raphael
and to my island of enchantments
I love you Puerto Rico
I love you Puerto Rico

Error: last stanza "and this is why it is born in me today / to dedicate this song to the noble countryman Rafael"
no "her"

ERROR: the CHORUS... The second time he repeats the Chorus, I believe he changes the words from bardos to barrios ->

[Coro:]

Preciosa te llaman los bardos (bardos translates in english to LYRIC POETS)
que cantan tu historia
No importa el tirano te trate
con negra maldad
Preciosa seras sin bandera
sin lauros, ni gloria
Preciosa, Preciosa
te llaman los hijos de la libertad

Preciosa te llaman los barrios (barrios translates in english to "NEIGHBORHOODS/HOODS/DISTRICTS")
que cantan tu historia
No importa el tirano te trate
con negra maldad
Preciosa seras sin bandera
sin lauros, ni gloria
Ooh Preciosa, Preciosa
te llaman los hijos de la liberrrrr-tttaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad

Thank you for translating this song!!!! As a puertorican, this is one of my favorite patriotic songs. I picked this song for my first dance and was looking for a translation for my husband to be, who does not speak any spanish.
I do have to correct a few points....
1. I believe that the Rafael he refers to at the end is Rafael Hernandez the puertorican musician. He wrote and composed this song in 1937.....except for the last 2 stanzas that where added by marc anthony.
2. It is Bardos not barrios in the original 1937 version, which in spanish means poet/troubadour ..... bards seems to be the appropiate translation
Thanx!!!!
