Mein Fahrrad

Recently I've been doing 120
riding about on my bike
& as always could only hope
the police don't pull me over
Because then I would have to pay a fine
& be led to the interrogation
& my poor little bike
would stand alone in front of the door

Oh how I love my bike
Why - that I don't exactly know
I will be faithful to my bike
In contrast to my wife
I will never leave it
I will never go from it
Because we fly as if on clouds
Since we understand each other so well

Every bogey drives an Opel
Every monkey drives a Ford
Every buffoon drives a Porsche
Every a**e an Audi Sport

Every nutter drives a Manta
Every fool a Jaguar
Only connoisseurs ride a bike
& always get there more quickly

my bike is not purple
because that doesn't turn me on at all
it's also not brown
because I can't stand brown
No - I've had it painted blue
from the saddle to the innertube
& I think that says it appropriately
as I'm also sometimes blue

Unfortunately "blau" and "blue" are kind of false friends here, because in German it's
"being drunk", but in English "being sad/depressed." Nevertheless, I wouldn't change this translation here.

I think Mauler has gone through the German text and made many corrections without telling us. It's too late for me, but I'm sure much appreciated by future readers.

This song is from Die Prinzen's 2002 CD: 10 Jahre Popmusik.

The insults in the bridge section might be better something like (in order):
Every... nobody, fool, idiot, arse, nutter, moron
