Hi Antoaneta, thanks for this translation of the national anthem of my neighbour island. English is not my native language but starting from the meaning of the original Italian text I could give you some tips, if you like:
Dio vi salvi > God save you
Per cui favor si sale > through whose grace one rises
Voi siete gioia e riso > You are joy and mirth
sconsolati > disconsolate
A voi sospira… (change the order of words):
Our afflicted heart / Sighs and wails to you
I vostri occhi pietosi… :
Turn to us / Your merciful eyes, / Maternal and loving.
Noi miseri accogliete > Please, welcome us, the wretched ones
Il Vostro figlio… :
And show us / Your Son in heaven
Gradite ed ascoltate… :
Oh Virgin Mary, / Sweet, merciful and pious, / Please accept and listen / To our affection.
Voi dai nemici… :
Grant us the victory / on our enemies / and then the Eternal…
Only last verse is in corsican, the others are in italian.
