Chicago kid

On avait bien 7 ou 8 ans,
On jouait comme si on était grands,
Au bord du vide,
Au bord du vide.

Il était petit et seul souvent
Ses mots bizarres, des fois violents
Chicago kid, Chicago kid

Tous les soirs il demandait
"Est-ce que c'est grand, la vie ?"
Nous on le croyait stupide
Tous les jours il disait
"Moi j'serai jamais très grand".
On jouait au bord du vide.

Les yeux plus bleus
Il parlait pas d'être malheureux.
On savait pas, Chicago kid
Chicago kid.

Trop sordide

Chicago kid, Chicago kid...

Превод

Chicago kid

We must have been at least 7 or 8
We played as if we were grown-ups
at the edge of the cliff1
at the edge of the cliff.

He was small and often alone.
He spoke strange and sometimes violent words.
Chicago kid, Chicago kid.

Every evening he asked
"Is life something big?"
We thought he was stupid.
Every day he said
"I'll never grow very tall".
We were playing at the edge of the cliff.

With even bluer eyes
he didn't say he was unhappy.
We didn't realize, Chicago kid.
Chicago kid.
My voice over a child pulling faces
He laughed quickly, as if out of time,
before the wrinkles came...

Every evening he asked
"Is life something big?"
We thought he was stupid.
Every day he said
"I'll never grow very tall".
We were playing at the edge of the cliff.

One day the kid with a bruised heart
walks close to the very bottom of his life.
He jumps off the cliff.
He jumps off the cliff.

The youngster is one of those children who fade away
The youngster is one of those children who snap
This is just too sordid.
Too sordid.

  • 1. lit "at the edge of the void". I used "cliff" troughout the song instead

Well i meant: "It's just too sad, like a true blues" :D
So i should have said: "C'est trop triste, comme un véritable blues."
